That is your airbag unit. Likely a fault or an uncleared code. Take it to your dealer. It's the only way.

I have a 1999 v70 and my problem was rough idle. it went up and down while idling. I found that the butterfly in the intake throttle control was dirty and just needed to be cleaned. If you can take it off yourself and clean the carbon/dirt and oil and the butterfly you can save alot of money. you don't have to remove the intake as Volvo will tell you, all you need to do is be able to feel with your hands the bolts to be removed. and also the clamp that holds the intake tube. then just unplug the ETC and clean it up. DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE END CAPS OF THE ETC. there is nothing inside you can service and if you destroy it it will cost about $700 dollars to replace. good luck.

If what you're referring to is the temperature sensor, (so that you get a readout in the instrument cluster), it is located just below the radiator hose that attaches to the engine. (On the left upper side as you look into the engine compartment). It is screwed into the 'gooseneck' of the upper radiator hose. I recently had to replace mine, as it made the vehicle difficult to start, with lots of black smoke once started. Now it is fine after the replacement was made.

First used in February of 1977 on Volvo B21 four cylinder engines, the Lambda-Sond system was an emissions reduction system which used three key components working together: 1) Lambda Sensor. An exhaust gas composition sensor to monitor chemical composition of engine exhaust; especially NOx(oxides of nitrogen) and feed data to the engine control system. Essentially, an oxygen sensor positioned in the exhaust pipe before the catalytic convertor. 2) A feedback loop providing information to the engine control computer that enabled more precise control the fuel injection system. 3) A catalytic convertor. It proved to be a key to restoring the performance lost by the addition of emission controls on vehicles. It was the fore runner to modern electronic engine management systems that eventually appeared as similar systems on all automobiles.

most likely the front c-v joints are bad and they make a grinding sound when you turn your wheel one way or the other. Better check your front hubs. CV joints normally make a loud popping noise. Might also be a broken strut spring or bad upper strut bearing. Try applying down-pressure on the top of the fender on the side making noise. If it makes the noise, then it is something in the front suspension. In all my experience I have not heard a strut mount grind. They make a very distinct knock noise and it is always there. A little bit of pavement change, such as a rough spot in the road and they will knock. I have on a rare occasion heard the spring itself make that noise when the spring was not properly seated in the bottom plate of the strut itself. But broken strust, broken strut springs and the assocated mount make a knocking noise 99% of the time. My car was making a grinding noise when turning to the right only...had a broken spring and bad upper strut bearing replaced and BINGO! Noise was gone. The Volvo dealer stocks many strut springs as this seems to be a common problem. Noise was also noticible when applying down-pressure on that side. Maybe I fall into that 1% of the time category! Yes, I would say so! It must have been some sort of real blunt trama to break a Volvo coil spring! You can certainly say you fit in a less than 1 percent category. The easiest way to look for a broken upper mount is to put a wrench on the upper nut. If you can turn it all the way around it is broken. Glad you solved your noise problem sire.

If anything, there should be a switch or reset button on the back or bottom on the light (if its a portable lamp). If there is none, contact the company or consult an instruction manual.
