What is a good lineman weightlifting routine?

im 15 years old and i start on offensive line at my school the thing is, lifting is a HUGE part, but u also have to eat, think of it as you HAVE to be a wall, which is what you are. IF you eat alot and lift alot youll be insane at blocking. work your way up to 210 - 250 and bench press at least 145. work on ALL of your muscle even your hand muscles, most importantly your upper body strength. you have to be able keep your legs fast, you don't exactly have to be blazing fast but you need to easily get 6.0 on a 40 yard dash. don't drink soda or crap like that during the in season, itll slow u down like no tommarow, drink water and gaterade. hope that all helps.

Answerno that's incorrect. if you just eat a ton and lift, you'll be huge, but you'll stink at blocking. when you lift and get big, your body loses its flexibility. you want to get big, but at the same time work on improving your lateral movement, agility, flexibility, explosiveness, and speed. i would do all your core lifting (deadlift, squat, bench press, and clean) but cleans are probably the most important thing you can do.

work on benching, both incline and regular. also some of the best lifts for line men are the deadlift, hang clean, and power clean. they will help with your explosiveness. squats and the military press are also some lifts that will help.

What should you do before and after weight training?

The single most important thing you can do before exercising is stretching. If you do not properly stretch, you will not get the full benefit of your workout, unless your goal is to get injured. Always stretch before and after any strenuous activity for at least 15 minutes if possible.

Previous Contributors Have Said:You should get plenty to eat. An hour or so prior to weight training (if possible, its hard to do if you weight train early in the morning), you should have a high energy snack. Within two hours after weight training your body needs to be replenished with protein and good carbs. And of course, when weight training or doing any exercise regiment, you need to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Where did weightlifting originate?

it orginated in Europe when two boys were cleaning and were "competing" to lift the heaviest things. Thence weight lifting was born.

Is weightlifting using white muscle or red muscle?

weight lifting uses white muscle. Red muscle is used for longer sustained, repetitive movements, like long distance running.

Is it safe to lose 50 pounds in weight in 12 weeks?

No, this is losing an average of 4.2 pounds a week. It is safe to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. However, the more overweight you are the easier it is to lose weight. I myself lost between 3 and 4 pounds in a week at my heaviest just by cutting 750 calories a day and adding in some light exercise. It is best to consult a doctor if you plan to lose that much weight really quickly. The risk you take in losing it too quickly is saggy skin :(

Did you lose your shock if you backwashed 1 hr after shocking?

The shock in your pool will be completely diluted within minutes. Shock is just a super chlorinator so you can test your water to see what chlorine level you have achieved

Which is better protein or carbohydrates for a muscle growth?

That all depends on the excercises you are doing to produce muscle growth. It you are doing "active" excersises (running, swimming, rowing etc.) then a higher amount of carps will be better as this will provide the long term energy you need to maintain this type of excersise. If you are only doing "inactive" excersises (Weight lifting, tension cords, calastetics etc.) then a lower amount of carbs with higher amounts of protein would be more benificial to muscle growth.

Before changing or altering your diet you should speak to your doctor and a dietician about your goals. They will be able to tell you if the goals are attainable and if you will have any potential health problems along the way. They will also be able to keep you informed on your progress toward your goal.

How can you get muscles in 2 weeks?

How to lose weight for basic training?

After graduating High School I weighed 230 lbs. Dieting did nothing so I started drinking much more water than usual which helped a lot. I wasn't a big runner but I'd go walking at night when it was cool. Soon I got used to that and started running, more and more often. When the summer was over I weighed 170 lbs, not even kidding. I'm still suprised at what determination can do. Just remember to be routine or it will all have been for nothing, you won't get to relax in Basic Training. Not trying to sound silly, but also try and go to the bathroom more often, get used to clearing out your entire system. Really helps. If you are having a hard time, get other people your age to go running with you. Keep in contact with your recruiter; attend the weekly poolie functions at the recruiting station. Be able to do at least 4 pull-ups and run 3 miles without stopping. If unable to do that, don't worry they will work with you but it will make it a lot easier on yourself. Marine Corps Basic is the most difficult (13 weeks long) but the process is more mental than physical. Go in there with a good attitude about everything, dont take it TOO seriously. When your platoon gets punished it's usually because of someone else who can't take it anymore and screws up. Don't be that guy. Good luck!

Does egg white make muscle?

The answer is a Yes and a No.

Yes - if you work out and do exercises that can help you build muscle

No - if you do not work out

Eggs are rich in protein and supplying protein to your body after a workout helps you build muscles.

Should you do cardio or weight training first?

No cardio before weight lifting is a bad idea. The reason for that is you want to do the hardest part and the most taxing part of training first. If you do cardio before weight lifting you are going to deplete your muscle glycogen as well as your energy and come to lifting already fatigued. Versus training when you're fresh and then finishing with cardio.

How do you gain weight if you are desperate and have tried everything?

Look at what you are eating closely. I had a friend at highschool who said she couldn't gain weight - but all she ate was lollies and fruit. You need to eat heavy foods - breads, meats, diary. Are you eating sensibly? At regular times? And althought it sounds yuck - look at the stuff coming out the other end. Is it digested? Or just passing through your body. You could have a medical condition. I have a girlfriend that is slim, but she works out and now has good muscle tone. I use to be on the thin side when I was in my teens, but when I was 20 I was my proper weight. Be thankful you are on the thin side (as long as you eat well) but 3/4 of the United States and Canada are fighting the battle of the bulge.

What is the all or none principle in weight training?

The "All or None" principle in weight training is that a muscle fiber contracts completely, or not at all.

How did greek athletes build muscular bodies?

It was a brutal regiment involving calisthenics, believe it or not as we know them today, they were in fact invented in ancient Greece, and Kettle Bells, also invented in Greece, although, there is no archeological evidence for them. Kettlebells exist in Russia, because the Slavs lived within the borders of the largely Greek influenced Byzantine Empire. If you look closely, the Alphabet of the Russian language has a ressemblance to Greek writting, as it was the Greeks who first educated the Slavs. When Constantinople fell to the armies of Mehmed II of the Turks, the Slavs went to various parts of eastern Europe, and the lion's share of them ended up in what is now Russia, where they took with them all the stuff they learned from the Greeks, ranging from wrestling, writting, and political corruption.

The ancient Greek regiment involved a diet rich in fiber, anti oxidants obtained primarily from fruits, and high in protein and calcium. Vitamins were obtained from whatever vegetables were indigenous to ancient Greece. Athletes in fact only consumed 3 square meals a day according to their apetite, but were careful not to gorge. In Islam, its so-called prophet says "eat only until you're full," that is in fact ancient Greek wisdom, it did not originate in Arabia. If you are strength training, if you are only so hungry, eat only so much; they had a very "listen to your body" approach. Most people who strength train tend to eat too much or too little.

1) All Greek men woke up before the sun was out for a morning jog at around 4 a.m. However, what separated athletes and warriors from the rest of the citizen class, was that athletes and warriors kept training throughout the day in whatever their sport or skill was. As a general rule though the fitness routine was the same across all Greece.

2) Following what was I think a 7 to 10 mile run, they would do an hour of calisthenics where they would do 100 everything, in a row, "circuit" style. Followed by the calisthenics they would do dancing, now that I recall. The Calisthenics would end, before I forget, with arms-only "sitting" rope climbs, said rope climbs are still done in the balkans today.

3) After the calisthenics, kettle bell swings where, using a 60 lb kettle bell, having worked up to it from teenhood, they would do 100 everything yet again. The session would end with stretches, the men would clean themselves and then go about their business. Athletes would continue training in their sport until the sun came down, in the Greek summer time that was about close to 9 p.m. I believe. Warriors would generally do the same; the members of the warrior class, at least in Thebes and Sparta. Athens did not have a warrior class, rather they had a vast army of professional soldiers later in their history, namely during the infamous pelop whatever wars (wiki it). Its peloponesian, I forget the spelling, it something along those lines.

I came across this information while at college, and even then, the text only offered vague methods, if you want to seriously research Greek fitness you will need to travel to New York or London, and track down ultra obscure tomes. Anything you find, will likely have dust on it, or be in very bad condition. Believe it or not, Greece itself is not a good source of information for obscure Greek stuff; better brush up on your Italian, because if you want ancient mediterranean fitness information, you will need to go to the libraries in Italy. Renaissance scholars did their best to track down and preserve any knowledge from ancient times, so for expert writting, Italy is the place to go, sometimes colleges in London, or perhaps Oxford, may have translations but don't hold your breath.

Why do immigrants to the US gain weight?

Immigrants who come to the US who gain weight most likely do because of a change in diet. The food in America is not exactly healthy all the time, and it is actually becoming more expensive to eat a healthy diet than to go to McDonalds for lunch. At my school I have seen it a number of times when foreign exchange students gain a lot of weight in just 1 year in America. They have told me that it is because of all the fast food. They say that they had never eaten so much fast food in their life. So, I think that immigrants to the US gain weight because they were not raised with such a bad diet, so they are not used to it.

High fructose corn syrup is added to nearly everything we eat. It has no food value and is added as a sweetener and to bulk up food items so the consumer thinks he is getting more for his money. The body does not recognize HFCS and stores it as FAT.

Answer: Probably because they're poor and can only afford low-quality, inexpensive, salty food which usually has a long shelf life. Canned foods such as soup, spagetti with tomato sauce, stews, and most frozen foods, cause weight gain and fatigue because the salt holds so much water in the body.
