If what you're trying to say is that when you try to install software on your Windows Vista from an old disk for you HP PhotoScanner 1000, the problem might be that the software isn't supported by Windows Vista. A way to check is to see on the disk if it says 'Vista' under the Windows operating systems supported. I have checked the website already for you, and sadly, Vista isn't supported. If you want to see for yourself, do this: 1). Go to http://www.hp.com/. 2). Click on "Support & Driver Downloads" on the left side of your internet browser. 3). Select "Download drivers and software (and firmware)" and type in"C9900A" (your product's SKU Number) in the space provided. 4). The page clearly states that Windows Vista (classified under 'unlisted software') is not supported. So, here is my advice to you, dear friend: buy a new scanner.

Open network connections from control panel. Right click on your wireless connection. Click properties. Click on wireless networks tab. Click properties. Click on Authentication Tab. Clear the box for "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network." Click OK to exit. Status should now be "connected".
This seems to be a common problem w/XP and wifi, especially is you're using WEP. You'll still have to enter your password for your wireless network to get connected.
