Wired Broadband Data Access

Wired broadband data access requires a wired connection between a data server and the internet. A Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) utilizes the local telephone network to provide high-speed data transfers while a dial-up connection provides slower data transfer speed.

Can you pay for dsl providers to set up cables for dsl?

It depends on the provider. Some provide only the digital connection, other companies will provide you a full range of services. Most DSL providers will provide set-up services for an additional fee. However, you probably could get a better price (and, possibly better service) from a computer support company.

If a ADSL modem is there the input comes through the RJ11 and it gives to computer through RJ45?

Yes. The modem acts as in translator, it converts information as it travels over the phone line into something your computer(s) can understand and then vice versa. The phone line uses a RJ-11 plug while an Ethernet network uses RJ-45 plugs.

What does the acronym adsl stand for?

The most common meaning for ADSL is "Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line." It is referring to a form of Digital Subscriber Line, which is a data communications technology.

What is the difference between Cable Modem and DSL Modem?

The cable modem allows the cable provider to plug their service into the back of the modem(coaxial cable) versus the DSL modem allows the phone company to plug their service into the back of the modem(phone line). The DSL service typically requires you to have a separate phone number from your main land line.

Why does my internet stream interup?

You internet streaming is interrupted because you internet is not stable.

What is the difference between DSL and ADSL?

ADSL is simply a version or 'flavour' of DSL. The 'a' refers to asymmetric, meaning 'not the same'. Hence, ADSL usually has different downstream and upstream rates (e.g. 1536/256 is a common speed of ADSL available in Australia, where downstream the link speed is 1536kbps and upstream is 256kbps).

What is a telecommunication manager?

Telecommunications managers oversee all aspects of a telecommunications system, including installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.

How do you setup dsl router with wireless router?

You plug your wireless into dsl router (you'll need to configure your router), and then configure your computer to the wireless
Just get a lan cable which is usually ships with wireless routers. Connect one end of the cable in wireless router port which is called wan or intertet. Another end of the cable connect to your modem. Then restart the modem and the router. Sometimes you might need to change settings for internet coneection and DHCP server. But usually it's not required.

What may limit a DSL connection capacity?

Bad computer maintenance practices or the lack thereof can end up taking precious bandwidth and slow down a connection. An older outdated DSL modem is the most common problem with capacity issues. Exchange or buy a new modem if it is older than three years.

If you use an adsl modem and connected to two computer is your ip same on both computers?

No, each computer must have a different IP address. The IP addresses have to be in the same subnet between themselves, and in the same subnet as the ADSL router (or modem); I won't explain subnets here, but usually having the same numbers for the first 3 parts of the IP address is enough. For example, if the ADSL router has the IP address 10.0.0.1, your computers might have addresses 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.3. If you need to add a third computer, give it the IP address 10.0.0.4

If the first computer has a different IP address - and it works - replace that, instead. For example, if the computer has IP address 172.16.0.2, assign the address 172.16.0.3 to the next computer.

How do you setup Port forwarding on ADSL surecom router EP-4707SX for web server mail server and ftp server?

I suggest that you cannot!

I have spent the whole evening trying to do just that.

Just typing 192.168.1.2 into the address bar should cause Apache to display your homepage.

First discover your TCP - grc.com shields up is good for that.

Then type that number like 34.45.67.123 into the address bar of your browser.

You should get the login screen of your router same like 192.168.1.1.

If you do not than your ISP is not allowing you to run a web server at least not on port 80.

If you do than it should be simple to port forward 34.45.67.123 to 192.168.1.2

or whoever you have become on your intranet.

192.168.1.1 (or 34.45.67.123 or whoever you are) > advanced > port forwarding.

There should be many possibilities like Servers > Web server > Add > Apply

The router should then be accepting 34.45.67.123 and translating it to 192.168.1.2

It does not it still causes the login screen to be displayed. Why?

Maybe you need to save as the entire router configuration and restart.

But if you do this you may have a different TCP.

grc.com shields up does warn you that port 80 is open, so something has happened.

I suggest that there is a bug in the software of the Surecom router.

I hope that this helps.

Which Microsoft updates slow down vista Downloads - 1.3mb but getting 490kbps at best Uploades ok. DSL line ok?

Internet speed is measured in Mbits not Megabytes. For example, I have a 10Mbps line and I achieve 1.2mB download speed because it's Megabits not Megabytes. 8 bits to the BYTE you do the math.
