The scientific name for a Dachshund is Canis lupus familiaris.
A healthy weight range for someone who is 5 feet 2 inches tall is typically between 101-136 pounds. However, it's important to remember that factors such as muscle mass, body composition, and overall health can also impact what is considered a healthy weight for an individual. It's best to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice.
Yes, they smell very well. If you are wondering if they stink, they don't smell any worse than any other short-haired dog. If it starts to get unbearable, you've waited too long between baths.
My weiner Dog Red just turned 19 in November and his brother just passed away a day before his 18th birthday. I am hoping Red can make it to 20 and make the Guiness Record book.

My mini doxie just had her 19th birthday October 23, 2012. As long as she's not suffering in any way, I hope to have a few more years with her. She is partially blind & can't hear well but other than that, she's fine. With this breed the spine is usually what kills them as the spine affects all their major organs. She's not arthritic, in fact, she has good muscle & bone tone. She can jump down but is fearful to do so as she has no depth perception but gone are the days of getting up stairs or on furniture. God bless all these little doggies!
They have very short legs so hunters could keep up with them.
I actually have one! We call him a Pekhuahua (peek-wa-wa). They look like a fat chihuahua with a curly tail (like a Pekingese). He is great tempered and loves everyone!
You should have him checked by a vet. Most dogs experience a dropping sperm count by age six and many will be sterile by age 10. Your vet can test for sperm count and evaluate him for over all health and fitness for breeding.
Pups are born with out teeth; between 6 and 8 weeks their "baby" teeth come in; there are 28. By 6 - 8 months these are replaced by "permanent"; there are 42.
i am 4 7 and i am kinda of skinny i weigh 64 so likee 80 100 if fat
About 30 percent are kept as pets and the other 70 percent are used to work. The main jobs are Guide Dogs, Police Dogs and Sheep Dogs.
There are 209 different types of dogs know in America and the number is getting bigger and bigger each year.
The three most popular dogs are:
1. Retriever (Labrador)
2. Yorkshire Terriers
3.German Shepherds
then depending on who is dominant you would get mostly the dominant breed and little of the other. probably in the second generation you would get more of the other.
The Standard Dachshund should reach between 8 and 11 inches at the shoulder and weigh over 11 pounds when the Dog is 12 months old.
Well, it depends. The original dog was the standard dachshund then the mini. Find out more at doxie.com
My Mini is 3 years old... and it seems to have lasted her on average 3 weeks from beginning to end. Hope this helps! My Mini is 3 years old... and it seems to have lasted her on average 3 weeks from beginning to end.
Dachshunds can be any colorr such as Black and Brown (My dogs color), plain Black, plain Brown, Dapple which is a grey and black and brown mix, or a reddish color.
Hope this helps! :)
The poodle i created last time survived for 2 days under my strict supervision. I made sure that i personally served the poodles to everyone. Everyone enjoyed my poodle and asked me my poodle's secret ingredients.
Find yourself a mentor who's been involved in the breed for at least 10 or 15 years. Need to know what to look for in a mentor? Check out my article on what makes a good breeder - http://www.noselicks.com/ The same things that makes a breeder good, will also make them a good example to follow and a good mentor to learn from.
You should ALWAYS feed and treat miniature dogs just like any other dog, if you have a big dog and a mioniature dog and you start treating the miniature dog special and the big dog normal the miniature dog will get cocky and the big dog will feel left out and mostly likely try and copy the miniature dog or worse, try and kill it, or injure it.
== == A Bluemation? A Dalheeler? Blue Heelers were crossed with Dalmatians in the late 19th century to improve their relationship with horses (horses, like people, do not like getting their heels nipped). This is why heelers are born-white, and why some of them are rather spotty. See the related link. So a blue heeler-dalmatian cross would be a slightly more dalmatiany-heeler. But what about a red heeler dalmatian cross? a redalmatian?
Could be allergies. If you are referring to a something that sounds like a cross between coughing and choking it's probably what is referred to a 'reverse sneezing'. Mine do that when they drink water too fast, something to do with a flap in their throat. When it is bad, what I do, and works although it sounds weird, is wrap your hand around their snoot and blow air into their nose (don't blow at their nose, blow into it...not too hard though, it'll make them fart....just kidding, but really not too hard. Just a couple of short puffs seems to do the trick), it flips the flap back the right way.
They can, but i dont recommend it, the dachshund puppies, should stay with the mother dachshund.
If you are looking to get a registered purebred Dachshund puppy you are looking at about $500. Now if it would happen to be one of the more sought after colors it will cost you more. But there are Dachshund rescue sites that offer them from $100 - $350 each depending on the age of the dog. Keep in mind that the rescue pets are not registered.
If you are trying to breed a dog then it should be at least 3 years old, so it is an adult and ready to breed.
