If the Europeans never (practically) took over the world at one time or another, then you wouldn't see as much of a European influence. For several reasons. First, the Asian diet subsists largely on rice and rice based products. Many recipes in Asian Cuisine call for Rice in some way. As the largest consumer, it is beneficial to grow it in the region (saving on transportation costs). The second is that there are long monsoon seasons in Asia and rice is grown under water in a swamp type environment, which large areas of Asia are covered in.
