it is fuse 25 under the hood of the car in tha fuse box but I put in a 20 fuse amp because that is all I had and works just fine.

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 is a very common firing order for older V8s. If you have a Chevyor a Dodge V8, it's probably a lock that this is your firing order.

Firing order is not by any means a criterion for engine ID. There are two things that you can look for that will identify your engine:

1. Casting number. Look for a 7-digit number that is cast into the block. This is not necessarily a positive ID, but it narrows down the possibilities. It's often located at the rear of the engine block , behind the head mounting surface.

2. Engine serial number. It will usually be stamped, as opposed to cast, on a machined surface in the front of the engine. This number will give you specifics about your engine, and is the best way to ID the engine without disassembling it.

I have a 1999 Potiac Grand Am SE, and I cannot find the transmission dip stick to check the transmission fluid.

I hear that for Optra's there is no way to check the transmission fluid level, other than to actually remove the transmission fluid cover under the vehicle. Your best bet is to just replace the transmission fluid level at a certain interval (GM says 160,000km), but I would go for more often .

Per GM, towing anything with the Volt is 'not allowed'. So far it's unknown whether it will actually damage anything or simply void the warranty if anything does break, but in either case it's probably not a good idea.

-I would say towing up to 800 pounds with 200 pounds of tongue weight is perfectly fine, as the Volt can hold up to 4 people, towing 800 pounds is not much more work. Just take it easy and the car shouldn't complain.
