A good approach would be to grow one of your own, perhaps in a pot, and improve your neighbourhood as well as your own space.

The small quantity of prunings would emphasize the value of the product.

Is ISRAEL a safe country to go for vacation?

Like every country, Israel has safe and not-so-safe places. In general, you'd

want to stay away from the boundaries, where Israel borders with hostile

neighboring countries (pretty much all of them). In the cities, you feel like

you're in London or Paris ... you're just as safe as you would be there, and

a whole lot safer than in many other world capitals. The countryside is also

fine ... again, away from the borders.

What is different between Israeli's army and the US army?

Essentially there is no viable difference between the USA Army and the Israeli Army. They have the same fighting ability and I would not want to come up against an Israeli Commando type of soldier or really any of their soldiers even though a large majority of their recruits are drafted by national law and they have a smaller army than the US.

Due to the lower population they must use a draft conscription but that does not mean the soldiers are not good soldiers. In comparison to the US and the Brits they are equal in ability and killing power.

Their weapons are similar and some come from the US.

Now if you really want to avoid any Israeli military foe it would be their airmen. They have awesome planes and pilots.

The Israeli also have the deadly automatic pistol that looks like a rifle: The UZI.

Are there animal sacrifices in Israel today?

Israeli Jews, Christians and Moslems don't have animal sacrifices.

Do the Israelis fear Hezbollah more than Hamas?

Israelis fear Hezbollah's capabilities more than they fear Hamas's capabilities since Hezbollah has superior numbers, better training, and superior weaponry. However, Israelis fear Hamas more because Hamas is a persistent threat whereas Hezbollah has other issues on its radar, such as maintaining power in Lebanon, fighting to support Assad in Syria, and Iranian sloganeering.

What issue divided Zionists and Orthodox Jews early in the Twentieth century?

There was a basic question of whether or not Jews should attempt to return to the Land before the Messiah; however, there was another, more specific, question which was raised, whether it was necessary to let the land lay fallow during the seventh year, as prescribed in the Bible. Many of the early kibbutzniks were not particularly observant religiously and they were inclined to ignore the commandment.

  • Answer 2
Orthodox Jews were living in Israel and making aliyah (moving to Israel) long before any non-religious Jews did so. The earliest waves of aliyah were very pious and religious. It was also felt that creating a secular state would influence many Jews to abandon the Torah; and this came true on a vast scale, shortly after the founding of modern Israel. In addition, some felt that creating a Jewish state would violate a Talmudic injunction (Ketubot 111a). In the last decade before the Holocaust, Orthodox Jews were trying to leave Europe just like everyone else, because the German anti-Semitism was becoming unendurable, but by that time the British Mandate had imposed tight limitations on immigration to Israel, and Europe's borders were (in any case) quickly becoming sealed by the Germans. Other information: 1) Many Jewish immigrants to Israel were encouraged or pressured (especially in the 1950s) to leave their Orthodoxy.

2) The official, gov't sponsored majority school system (mamlakhti) is secular.

3) The government has sponsored such forbidden things as digging up graves, Sabbath-violations, and tens of other examples.

4) Unlike in the U.S.A., when an Israeli politician (except in the minority religious parties) invokes mention of God, it creates a political brouhaha, as if a contemptible thing has been committed.

5) The Israeli religious community is discriminated against in housing, allocations, school funding, etc.

These are just a few examples.

What was Israel's response to the Midianites Describe Israel's response to the Midianites' severe oppression?

The General-Judge Gideon united 300 elite soldiers and pillaged the Midianite Camp.

Please see the section of the book of Judges (NIV) 7:15-25 below:

15 When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he bowed down and worshiped. He returned to the camp of Israel and called out, "Get up! The Lord has given the Midianite camp into your hands." 16 Dividing the three hundred men into three companies, he placed trumpets and empty jars in the hands of all of them, with torches inside.

17 "Watch me," he told them. "Follow my lead. When I get to the edge of the camp, do exactly as I do. 18 When I and all who are with me blow our trumpets, then from all around the camp blow yours and shout, 'For the Lord and for Gideon.'"

19 Gideon and the hundred men with him reached the edge of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just after they had changed the guard. They blew their trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. 20 The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, "A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!" 21 While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled.

22 When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the Lord caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. The army fled to Beth Shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of Abel Meholah near Tabbath. 23 Israelites from Naphtali, Asher and all Manasseh were called out, and they pursued the Midianites. 24 Gideon sent messengers throughout the hill country of Ephraim, saying, "Come down against the Midianites and seize the waters of the Jordan ahead of them as far as Beth Barah."

So all the men of Ephraim were called out and they seized the waters of the Jordan as far as Beth Barah. 25 They also captured two of the Midianite leaders, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb at the winepress of Zeeb. They pursued the Midianites and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon, who was by the Jordan.

How did the Philistines take advantage of Israel's disunity?

Not only the Philistines. Whoever their enemy was at any given time, considered any Israelite disunity as a positive factor when considering battle, since it would imply a smaller Israelite force to contend with. See for example 1 Samuel ch.11. After taking steps to ensure the cooperation of all the people, Saul was confident in facing Nachash the Ammonite. Without that, the outcome would have been much more unsure.
