The question itself is biased and incorrect. The Palestinians never had their own

homeland. Before the formation of Israel, they were under the Ottomans and

then the British.

Regardless of the problems with the question, the name of the region you are

looking for is Palestine.

The irony here is the fact that this website is a "Question and Answer" meeting

place, yet if some innocent and well-meaning contributor were to come along

and answer "Kurdistan," the person with the so-called "question" would jump

up and protest "No! That's not the correct answer." His question really isn't a

question at all; or rather it's a question in the Socratic method, in which the

purpose in asking is not to get an informative answer. He asks it in order to

make a point, highlight his agenda, grind his axe, spread his views, employ his

metaphor, and proclaim his gospel.

For the contributor trawling the site looking for questions to answer with facts

and a rudimentary knowledge of history, coming across this question and

electing to play it straight, perhaps the best answer would be a simple:

"There is no such region in the Middle East."

First, there were twelve tribes of Israel.

Second, if one knows where to look, remnants of the twelve tribes can be found wherever they existed. Civilizations always leave a mark and one can find the mark of the tribes of Israel anywhere from Egypt, to Syria, to Germany. However, since the twelve tribes have now become one Jewish people, it is safe to say that the best place to look is where they now reside, in Israel.

Egypt is located mostly in Africa, but partially in Asia. Specifically, the Sinai Peninsula is the Asian part of Egypt.

There are a number of them. The first that comes to mind is Elijah the Tishbite, but nearly every Prophet that has a book named after them in the Old Testament preached in both Judea and the Galilee at some point.

You may also be thinking of Jesus Christ, but he is not typically considered a "Jewish Prophet" since Judaism does not recognize his claims to prophecy.

The Old Testament Book of Kings downplays the positive side of his reign and emphasises his marriage to the Phoenician princess Jezebel, whom it criticises strenuously.

The Book of Kings attributes a great expansion of Israelite territory to King David, during the century before the time of Ahab, leaving Ahab as merely a moderately successful military leader. When archaeologists were excavating Megiddo, they found buildings that looked like magnificent stables. Of course, they at first attributed them to King Solomon who - the Bible explains - owned a lot of horses and chariots. The new view is that they probably belonged to King Ahab. For this theory there is extra-Biblical evidence from Israel's traditional enemy, Assyria. In 853, King Shalmaneser led a major invasion force against Syria, Phoenicia and Israel. A coalition of nations met him near Qarqar in western Syria. Apparently Shalmaneser won because he claimed victory and erected a monument known as the Monolith Inscription in which he gloats how he triumphed over all the armies arrayed against him, including "Ahab the Israelite" with 2,000 chariots and 10,000 foot soldiers.

Yes. Correct, people do not hate Israel for "destroying the peace" with oil-rich Muslim countries and for inflating oil prices. This is because most people are aware that Israel is not actually the cause of the problems cited or because people are aware that those problems do not actually exist.

First, there was no peace in the Middle East before Israel. The Saudi Wars existed in the 1920s. There was the Iranian Revolution of 1925 which saw the Pahlavi come to power. There were the Circassian and Armenian genocides of the late 1800s and 1910s respectively. There were several pogroms of Jews in the Ottoman Levant in the 1800s and early 1900s. Additionally, since Israel's independence, the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict is responsible for less than 5% of Middle Eastern War deaths. Far more brutal have been the three Persian Gulf Wars, the Lebanese Civil War, Black September in Jordan, the three Yemeni Civil Wars, and the Anfal Campaign (Kurdish Genocide) in Iraq.

Second, as to gas prices. the regular American is paying more for gas due to the War in Iraq and the decisions of OPEC concerning how much petroleum to produce. There is also pressure from India and China who are increasing consumption and driving up the price.
