Depending on where you go (I got this from Wikipedia) there were about 1 million Allied troops in the war, who met about 1 million North Korean, Soviet, but mostly Chinese troops in the war. As for survivors, here my's best estimate: S. Harry Truman was angered when MacArthur demanded an unconditional surrender from North Korea during the Korean War. Harry Truman fired MacArthur after a congressman received a letter from MacArthur stating this idea. MacArthur knew that this would be a way to prolong the war in Korea.

It began in 1950 when the North Korea invaded South Korea. The Communists quickly overpowered the Republicans and captured the capital of Seoul, near to the border. The first UN forces (which were mostly American) arrived at Pusan where the successfully defended the Perimeter. More forces landed at Inchon, just outside Seoul, and retook the capital. North Korea forces were forced to retreat and the invasion was repelled as quickly as it started.

By the time the UN agreed to allow the war to continue into North Korea, they were already there. However, in the mountains they encountered difficult terain and a harsh winter. Chinese forces entered the North and pushed them out, eventually recapturing Seoul. Seoul was soon recaptured, but the war ended up in deadlock and trench warfare for the next two years. In 1953, a ceasefire ended the conflict.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North) and The Republic of Korea (South) are two different countries divided after WWII defeat of Japan who occupied the Korean Peninsula. The USSR occupied the North and The USA occupied the South. They were never reunified despite Northern Efforts in The Korean War.

1. get official permission from the North Korean government.

2.If they send you a visa, you can go there, if not, you can't and you have to give them a good reason.

From the point of view of America, no, one of the greatest superpowers on the planet lost to a tiny country on the other side of the world. They were humiliated and became too involved due to an irrational fear of communism.

But from Vietnam's point of view, it is split, rural people living in the countryside were definatly for communist and saw it as an attractive idea, but urban residents were up for the country to remain capitalist. All in all yes it was woth it

Their ideals are at directs odds with each other. South Korea has a heavy Western influence and is a very highly developed and modern country with a good appreciation for human rights. In addition, they are a very capitalistic society with a democratic government. North Korea, however, is a communist and authoritarian government with a very low regard for human rights. They are very under-developed and have lost all backing from nearby countries, including China. North Korea desires to reunify the Korean peninsula and Kim Jong Il is not a completely sane and stable ruler.
