How do boas and pythons kill their prey?
An initial strike catches the prey, a Python has 4 rows of teeth (two each side) on its upper jaw and 2 rows on the bottom. The strike is fairly quick, close to that of a blink, and if the snake hits its target just as quick as the strike the snake will coil itself around its prey and begins constriction. When striking defensively a snake will strike and release but when hunting a Ball Python will strike and hold until the constriction process has killed the prey. Contrary to movies, constriction doesn't break bones, as the prey exhales air the snake will squeeze tighter preventing the prey from inhaling, usually resulting in shock and eventual suffocation. The snake waits for the heartbeat to stop before consuming, in rare cases a snake won't coil the prey completely but using just part of its body applying force tot he prey against a tree or rock or even the ground to achieve the same effect.

Do ball python turn to a piebald?
No, pie-bald is a recessive trait that even when both parents show it (homozygous), sometimes only 25% of the hatchlings show it and other merely carry it (heterozygous). A hatchling pie-bald can range in price from $1000.00-$2000.00, depending on the breeder and your location. Snakes that are het. for the trait are marked up considerably. Very careful and selective breeding as well as the study of snake genetics has produced many many morphs of Ball Pythons. Some as pricy as Five-Thousand dollars. To understand Ball Python genetics, I would reccommend contacting your closest and/or most reputable reptile specialty store. They can answer a lot of questions on breeding because chances are they breed their own, and pick up "The Ball Python Manual" by Advanced Vivarium Systems it's in-depth but understandable reading. I'm familiar with Ball Pythons but not an expert, when I obtained my snake, the book and the specialty shop employees were life savers.

Do Royal Pythons usually bite there owner?
Royal/Ball pythons are a very docile species of snake that rarely bite. They usually will roll up into a tight ball hiding their head when scared/threatened. Hence the name Ball Python. Their gentle nature is why they are such a popular pet.
Where do pythons sleep and how?
All pythons sleep very ealry in the mornig or at night.Phthons sleep on there head
No, Pythons kill by constricting their prey then swallowing them whole, they are ambush predators.
Are female ball pythons more docile than males?
The Royal python (from their Latin name of Python regius)- in general is a docile species. Bites are rare indeed - I've kept Royals for more than 25 years and not had one single bite. Like most animals - they would much rather escape than stand and fight. Of course - if you provoke one enough it will either bite you or curl up into its defensive ball posture.
Having said that - if a female is gravid - she may bite if handled before she lays her eggs. The developing eggs put pressure on her internal organs, which is uncomfortable - handling increases the discomfort, and her only defence is to bite her 'attacker'. I've been bitten by gravid females of other snake species during handling.
Is there anyone that knows a lot about a ball python pls write back FAST?

How do you treat a dehydrated ball python?
Depending on the severity of the dehydration, taking the snake to a vet may be required. Most snakes though, if the dehydration is not too severe, will readily drink water when thirsty, so just offering water will be enough if it's VERY mildly dehydrated. If in doubt though, or if the snake is too weak, it needs to be taken to an exotic animal vet.
How large a mouse should you feed your royal python?
It depends how big and how much your python eats. If you usually give it lots of food and he eats it right away, I suggust you give him a big mouse. (and vice versa)
Can you tell if a ball python is sick by the way they shed?
typically if you have been feeding yours properly and the environment is adequate to what the python needs to survive they shed differently. If the humidity is proper in it's cage they will shed it off in one full peice; however, if yours is like mine...shedding takes a few weeks and it usually starts falling off from the taill and working its way to the head. During this time my snake is usually very active because she is trying to knock the skin off on her own. I usually help with a warm washcloth by peeling it off myself. I don't know if you can tell if the snake is sick or not, but I thought I would share how my snake sheds and hopefully you will see that each is different from the other depending on the environment. Hope this helps
Can your ball python live with your gecko?
I would strongly advise against that. It puts stress on the snake which can lead to death, and your gecko may be killed.
Is the oenpelli python dangerous?
The oenpelli python can be dangerous because of its large size - up to 13 feet or 4 meters in length - and because it waits for and then coils itself around its prey, strangling it.
