How do you get rid of your fear of snakes?

Well you have to make sure the dog u are trying to overcome your fear of is nice and licks alot because licking is kissing and don't give it chocolate!!!!! and if your allergic to dogs i would recommend staying away from the dog. Just be yourself with a dog and treat it like a person trust me i have 2 dogs and in a couple of months im getting another one! my dogs are inside of the house right now snuggling with me. and all dogs are cute and awsome and nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( For most people)

im sorry but the answer above doesn't really help as i have a fear of dogs too.i would recommend that if a family member has a friendly dog, ask if you can go to their house and get used to being around that dog. pet it and try to get as close to it as you can. if you still are nervous around them, it might be good to buy a puppy as they are harmless and will be more frightened of you than you are of it; and as it grows you will be used to it.

How can snakes smell fear?

Snakes fear their predators, which include larger animals and birds. Snakes will become agitated when a shadow passes over them, a large animal approaches or downward pressure is applied to their bodies. - Animal control personnel tasked with relocating snakes are aware of these behaviours and use them to their own advantage. Snakes have little objection to being lifted from underneath with a handling hook and will readily go to hide in a black bag.

Why do you think Gorgons had snakes for hair?

The mortal gorgon was given snake hair to make sure people looked at her face, her eyes, turning them into stone. Ok, so say your walking along the greek trail going to Athens to meet someone (1500 years ago), and you run into a lady with her hair hissing at you. You'd look, right? So you'd look at the hair, and the eyes are only an inch under the hair, and boom your stone. she could have also had snakes for hair because.... well the reason you turn to stone is because they are so hideous right? well the snakes could add to the hideousness!

How many snakes live in the wild in the United Kingdom?

There are two species of snake native to the UK (though neither are commonly seen)

The Grass Snake is a harmless, non-poisonous snake, and the Adder, whilst classed as poisonous is still relatively harmless, as a bite from one (extremely rare!) apparently does no more than cause various degrees of 'discomfort', dependent largely upon the age and health of the person being bitten: no nore than flu-like stmptoms for a day or two, if the bitten person is a typical adult and otherwise healthy.

There is a third snake-like animal in the UK called a Slow Worm, which looks like a fairly short snake: a long wriggly body without legs (and blind!) ... it's actually a legless lizard, and 100% harmless!

I spend more time outdoors than most people (I'm an angler, and also shoot), and in more than fifty years, I've seen a Slow Work twice, one Grass Snake, and I've never seen an Adder!
