The captain of Uruguay was José Nasazzi Yarza (24 May 1901 in Montevideo - 17 June 1968), Uruguayan footballer. He had won the gold medal in the Olympic Games of 1924 and 1928 with the Uruguayan Football Team. He retired in 1937.
