What can help ADD people sleep?

Lower your dose of medication. If that doesnt work, you probly dont have really bad adhd. Having horrible and newly discovered adult adhd, I have been on concerta, adderall and vyvnase. I started at 18mg concerta and wasnt satisfied with my focus until I got bumped up to 70mg Vyvanse. I take 70mg everyday and i am able to take naps throughout the day, and go to bed normally. Through my experience, being a college student, i have seen people (who are not prescribed) take 30mg aderall to study and not be able to sleep for 2-3 days. If this is the case for you, you dont need it. If you have bad adhd you could take a 30mg Aderall or a 70mg Vyvanse at 7am and be yawning by 12pm. Even the first time i ever took aderall, i was able to sleep normally, which is how i actually discovered i had adhd. Adhd meds can help anyone focus, but theyre meant to help the people who cant focus without them

How long should you not eat for?

If your question is referring to eating in relation to taking medication for ADHD, the answer is never go without eating. It is best to eat a large meal with the medication. After taking the medication the patient may have little to no appetite. If you can get the patient to at least drink milk or a "liquid meal" sold in cans, anything will help. Most people worry about children's growth while taking meds for ADHD and that is because usually it causes a loss of appetite and/or a stomachache. This will usually result in a slowing of growth and weight gain. However, research has shown that by the child's 18th birthday, he or she will be the height and weight they were originally supposed to be. It does not cause any long term affects on growth.

Is it normal for a 7 year old boy with autism and severe ADHD who has just started taking adderall 5 mg daily to have the side effect of being very emotional?

A: The "normal" effects on children when referring to Adderall should in fact be calming, and focusing. Your child shouldn't be an emotional wreck when taking Adderall. You need to talk to your doctor about the sudden abnormal side effects the Adderall is causing, because sometimes it causes suicidal thoughts and worsens unknown psychological illnesses. They will probably switch your child to a non-stimulant medication such as Strattera. And another thing perhaps the reason that the Adderall is acting adversely could be that he is also autistic. Because in that case the Adderall would definetly worsen the autism.
