What does it mean to do the same thing repeately but expecting a different outcome?

Some say, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing but expecting a different result. When you use the same thought process, same approach, maybe same system over and over again and still getting the same result, it's time to change the above mentioned. Kind of like if you were to get in your car....and make car noises but the car doesn't start. You really want the car to start, and day after day you go and sit in your car and make car noises. Stop and think, how else will this car start. Hmmmm. Maybe use the key, then the car will start. Another saying, there isn't one way to skin a cat....ouch...I know sounds terrible but basically the same idea. There are several methods you just have to keeping trying until you get your result you want. IF? You have tried everything including what everyone else even suggests then maybe it's time to find a new goal or different outcome. Be flexible because life isn't!

o

yesss you can. I jus smoked 30 mins ago. If i think about food, jus sounds really good and looks good in my head. So jus stop yourself, and think. How long after taking Suboxone can you take clonazepam?

Clonazepam is not an opiate, so you can take it even if you're already on Suboxone. A few years ago I was prescribed clonazepam, on top of my regular dose of Suboxone. Just don't take more than a normal dose of either drug: as they are both depressants, there is a risk of overdose if you take too much.

How do you stop biting your nails?

You have to be really determined to do it, but it's quite easy.

  • Get a special nail polish (you can get it clear) from your drug store or general store that is specially made to stop nail biting. Your pharmacist can advise.
  • Paint it on your nails every day.
  • It has a bitter taste so as soon as your nail goes in your mouth you get a reminder to stop.
  • If it wears off, put it on twice a day.
  • If you are not really determined to stop, then don't do it.

Clip them really short, and file them daily.

Get something else to chew on-- try really tough beef jerky, or snack on Grape Nuts cereal.

How addiction is acquire?

When you take your first drug, you are oblivious to everything around you. It could also make you feel good, it could change your emotions. The first drug is usually taken when you are around friends and are dragged into peer pressure. Most of the time when a person is introduced to their first drug and they are emotional or have personal problems, they think it will make them better and take it. The first few times it is usually taken for fun or just to feel better. Then eventually you start wanting it which is when you know you are getting addicted.

The above statements are true. However, there are other components to addiction. Doctors and scientists have found two very key factors in why some people become addicted, and others do not. In alcoholic addiction, there is the lack of an enzyme that non-alcoholic and social drinkers have. Work is being done to synthetically reproduce this enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down alcohol in a "normal" way. Also, there is very strong evidence that addiction is inherited. It is a disease. Research has also discovered an "addiction gene" that exists in addicts, which is one of the reasons it seems to cluster in families. For example, if two people have the addiction gene (the disease of addiction) and have three children, the odds that at least two of those children will eventually become addicted to a substance.

There is also the issue of 'self medicating' when another condition exists, for example ADHD, depression and/or anxiety.

Is addiction voluntary?

At first, addictions are often voluntary. There are cases when people are forcibly given drugs, but that is not what most addicts face. But as a person chooses to continue drugs, the addiction is no longer voluntary. It is then a physical addiction as well as a psychological one. They find that they "have to" have it or they will get sick or whatever.
