When did horse slaughter begin?
Horses have been hunted/slaughtered since before they were domesticated. After domestication horse meat was consumed when animals were unable to perform their required function. The consumption of a horse's meat when an animal became aged or debilitated was not only practical but for people who had close relationships with them understood that it was wasteful not to use as much of the carcass as possible (for pigs the saying is that you use everything but the squeal).
Like many behaviors that began with people close to their animals and the desire/obligation to use everything in a frugal and meaningful manner... industrialization allowed many people to become removed from a direct relationship with the animals that they work/live with and consume.
Many times this has lead to interesting aberrations.
For example Karakul fleeces were seen by tourists who found them attractive. The amount of money that they were willing to pay for these lamb skins was more than
a farmer could have dreamed of making in years. Since the original fleeces came from aborted lambs (used by the farmers for clothing so as not to be wasteful) but the demand from foreigners was high, farmers started intentionally aborting their
sheep.
The horse slaughter industry is the product of people becoming isolated from their
farming roots, no longer needing to care fortheir animals and having neither respect or honor for them. The slaughter industry of all livestock is an expedient for people who live in cities, and the people that run them (and most of their employees) are equally removed from any investment in the welfare of the animals.
The issue is equally muddied by the elevation of horses to the animals that "won the west", making them "superior" to oxen that took most of the wagons west. Not to denigrate the role of horsesin any way.
The slaughter of all animals, not just horses, needs to be done in the gentlest, most appropriate waybased on the animal's natural behavior.
How many years do you get in jail if caught dog fighting?
The average jail sentence for dog fighting is around five years, and/or a fine of about $10,000. However, states like Louisiana and Michigan will fine nearly five times as much, which is upwards of $25,000 and $50,000.
However, the above information is for first time offenses. To see the full rules about Dog Fighting and second and more offenses, view the Related Link below.
What has been done to solve animal abuse?
well there are programs that educate people that animals feel pain too and that it can be dangerous to abuse an animal because that said animal could become violent and hurt someone that it is illegal to a certain extent.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Programs aren't the only things preventing animal cruelty, people just like me all over the world are also helping to rescue animals. For example I have a 12 year old chow who was owned by a very abusive family, and one day they came by and asked if we could take care of her for a few days. Well ya know what, they didn't give us food for her, she hadn't had any of her shots, and was abused on a daily basis. It took over 2 years for her to overcome her fear of brooms, vaccums, shoes, even the sound of my mom's heels on the floor would spook her. And do you know what they did after 4 years of them just leaving poor Bear (thats her name) with us, they had the nerve to come back and ask for her back! Well... before Bear there was another dog named Shelby with us and at the time she still was... so when the lady and her husband just decided to waltz on in to our house Shelby grabbed the lady by the hand, not hard enough to break the skin, but hard enough so that it hurt, and wouldn't let go until the lady and her husband got out of our house. So there you have it, its not just programs, but everyday people like us who every day have the oppurtunity to save an animal at risk. P.S. Sorry for the long story.
Why do people want to abuse animals?
People slaughter horses for the same reasons they slaughter cows, sheep, chickens, etc. - to eat the meat and utilize the other byproducts (leather, technical fats for manufacturing, etc.). There is a market for horse meat and other byproducts, so there are those who are willing to supply the demand.
While horse meat is socially and culturally taboo in the United States, many western European countries view horse meat as a delicacy. This is similar to the situation with dog meat - considered barbaric and cruel in the US, considered culturally acceptable in southeast Asia.
There are many passionate arguements on both sides of the debate regarding horse slaughter in the US. Currently, Federal inspection of horse slaughter is not funded and will not be provided; therefore, horses cannot be slaughtered in the US then have the meat shipped internationally to the markets for such meat. However, there are several states that are trying to start State meat inspection programs that include inspecting horse slaughter, which would allow meat from horses to be sold within those state lines.
Arguments against slaughtering horses tend to point out the aesthetic, cultural, social and emotional value of horses - they are beautiful animals, often associated with freedom and the American spirit and are generally treated by the average horse owner as a companion rather than a piece of living property.
Arguments for slaughtering horses tend to focus on practical matters - more horses are bred than are used in the US, they are 1000-2000 pound animals that cost a great deal to take care of, there are few options to get rid of a mean/lame/unuseable horse outside of slaughter, euthanasia and disposal of the carcass is very expensive and there's little logical reason to not slaughter the animals. As noted above, cold practical logic is not the reason people are against slaughtering horses.
How many animals die because of neglect?
Unfortunately there is no animal abuse reporting system nationally as of yet. I guess they are working on this. But I did find this website that has many links and pages to go to and learn more on how many are found and what type of animal is involved.
It is noted though that many are found EVERYDAY abused and neglected by owners that just chain up animals and lock them away. Also with our ever rising Foreclosure rates across the United States, there are astounding amounts of animals found left to die in homes that the owners have left the animals behind in each and every state in the United States. Rather then the owners giving them away and/or sending to a shelter.
The types of breeds that are on the rise is the Pit Bull, unfortunately they are used for fighting, the dog ring fighting that is illegal in the United States.
I have owned many a Pit Bull and enjoy the breed they are loving and kind and very loyal and strive to do anything for you correctly the first time.

Are there slogans for animals?
The best slogan around about stray animals is the following: "Within the heart of every stray lies the singular desire to be loved."
What happens to you if you get caught doing animal cruelty?
You can be arrested, have to go to court. You may be fined or have to do jail time or both.
Why do you never see baby pidgeons?
By the time a baby pigeon is ready to leave its mother (around 4 weeks), it is already fully feathered, and simply looks like a slightly smaller version of a mature pigeon. At this age, it is already too big to fit comfortably in the palm of an adult's hand. You probably do see baby pigeons, but they are not easily distinguishable as being younger than other pigeons.
I think circuses should be banned because animals are getting wiped and abused just to perform some trick. Also the people who run the circus are getting thousands of dollars while some animals are getting badly injured or even die.
How are endangered species protected?
It is widely recognized that the diversity of life on Earth as we know it, forms an Ecological balance, whereby living things rely on each other for existence. The endangered species act promotes the survival on species of animals that are threatened with extinction if overly hunted or poached. The direct answer is that the endangered species act protects animals by:
1) Studies the number of populations of certain animals over large geographic areas or in certain ecosystems.
2) Recognizes the positive or needed impact of threatened species on certain ecosystems
3) Controls the number of animals that can be hunted or killed to prevent a species being killed off to extinction.
4) Sets up preserves (or parks) where animals cannot be hunted or killed, in order to maintain a specie's existence.
5) Gives authority to different law enforcement agencies to enforce protection laws for species identified as endangered.
6) Balances rural rancher's needs of raising livestock with environmental groups' efforts toward re-introduction programs of certain species' back to their natural habitats.
* BALANCE* is the key issue to preserving species, and the Endangered Species Act. In an ecological system (a forest, for example): If all the large predators that prey on deer are killed off, then the deer population increases exponentially, and the large herds eat all the plants of a certain type that they forage on. Other animals might need that specific type of plant to thrive (such as Monarch Butterflies to Milkweed Plants). If deer are overly hunted in that same forest, natural predators will die off because they can't find prey to hunt; *and* vegetation that is eaten by the deer, will grow exponentially, which when they die cause the forest to be littered with dense undergrowth, and thus be a nightmare if a forest fire were to result.
Who many animals die a year from hunting?
If you include in your animals causing death snakes, scorpions and insects, the number would be in the millions. Mosquitoes, alone, are responsible for a huge number of deaths. They are the deadliest animal on earth.
What do some companies use instead of animals for testing?
Instead of animals being tested on, plants and humans can be tested on too.

Why should humans care about other animals?
Most people believe that inflicting unnecessary suffering is wrong. Non-human animals, particularly vertebrates, suffer physical pain and even emotional distress in much the same way humans suffer. Because of this, most people would agree that humans should consider other animals’ suffering when determining the rightness or wrongness of an action.
What animals are being used for cosmetics?
It depends on the brand. Some lipstick contains carmine which is a red pigment made from a tiny insect that lives on cacti in south america. Sometimes by-products of milk and eggs are used. Animal fat almost never makes it into makeup as it goes rancid too easily.

Is there animal cruelty in china?
Unfortunately, there is animal cruelty everywhere. In China, they capture stray dogs and cats, and eat them. However, this raises the interesting conundrum: Would this be mistreatment of the animals, or the people? The people are staving, so are they justified in eating defenseless dogs and cats? Don't we in America eat defenseless chicken? Is it just a different culture?
So the answer is, it depends on your point of view.
___________________________________________________________
Unfortunately, animal abuse in mainland China happens quite a bit, and such videos have gone viral over the internet. This is because of the concurrent lack of animal cruelty laws in the mainland. Examples include live bait circuses and fur farms.
Unfortunately, these videos have provoked a lot of racism against Chinese people on the internet, as many are quick to denounce the Chinese as bad people because of this. This is wrong, since most Chinese people do not intentionally abuse animals. A new law has been proposed in mainland China which would prohibit a significant amount of cruelty to animals. Taiwan and Hong Kong already have tight animal welfare laws, and locals are seeking to expand them.
Is proactive tested on animals?
No. Proactiv is a cruelty-free company. It is stated under Proactiv's FAQs that it does not test its products on animals.
Should animals be used for medical research?
I think that it's wrong since they can do a lot of other things to test medicine. They can make pieces of skin without using real skin. Science has come far and there are alternatives. But it's more expensive so most companies don't want to.
I think it isn't right ,however sometimes it has to be done:(
I am for that. I would want items tested on animals before humans. Animals are not equal to humans. The idea that we can not use them for research is appalling to me. It cheapens the value of us as a species.
Personally I wish it wasn't so, but as far as I know they don't have alternatives other than humans themselves which isn't always permitted.
Personally I feel that people should volunteer to do it despite the risks, as were more capable of communicating pain and side effects, of course some medical research is real raw and would undoubtedly kill but I still belive people would volunteer. I expect theres wide opinion on this question so keep an eye on the discussions board! X
As stated earlier personaly I wish it wasnt done however with that said I can understand that testing af drugs procedures e.t.c gets done with animals. and saves more animals and peoples lives then are lost. However I think it is absolutely wrong for cosmetics and similar vanity rubish to be tested on animals.

Animals are used for research for ethical reasons. Animals are first used in medical research so that humans are not harmed. Animals are used in other research to understand their physiology such as why do bears hibernate and how.
No, they should not. Nowadays humans have much greater scientific breakthroughs and research and do not need to still use animal tests as much as they once believed they did. True - as it is, some animal experiments have benefited us and some also have not, e.g. cigarettes were tested on rabbits and were deemed to be safe BUT what the scientists didnt know was that humans are NOT like rabbits and we can't break down nicotine like they can. They can break it down 60 times faster than humans and this dramatically reduces the amount of nicotine Dependent receptors in their brains, meaning they don't get addicted to it any where near as badly as we do. There are many more of those kinds of stories.
Basically, rationality begs the question: why would you do that when it is not always reliable and will probably need human tests anyway?
It is a fact that we would not have most of the medical knowledge we do today if we hadn't done it in the past, but again I see no reason for it to continue other than humans trying to keep their 'control' at what they seem to think is the top of the chain.
Only you can decide whether you agree or not but being informed is necessary for your decision to be right for you.
How are perfumes tested on animals?
Currently, perfumes are not tested on animals. However, prior to about 1990, they would be tested on rabbits, generally, with a small amount placed in the eye to see if it caused an inflammatory reaction.
What beauty products are used on animals?
ANSWER: I would think that they would be treated nicely since they would have to be seen by the world.
