Animal Rights and Abuse

Animal rights has to do with the idea that animals should have the same basic rights as humans. Abuse includes anything that hurts or harms the animal, such as not providing a suitable living space, using animals for drug experimentation, and physically harming them.

How can you stop fur farming?

You can stop puppy mills by stop buying puppies and dogs at pet stores and adopt a dog in your local shelter or the pound. Thousands of dogs have to be put down at the shelters of over crowding. So adopt a dog at the shelter, and you will save lots of lives.

Should animals have more rights why or why not?

not enough of them

Another Opinion...

While animals deserve reasonable protection against abuse, they do not have legal "rights" in the same way humans do. The US courts have upheld the concept that with the granting of rights also comes the responsibility of duties. Since animals cannot reasonably be expected to carry out any duties, they are also accordingly denied rights.

This does not give humans any legal standing in cases of abuse. In the same way animals cannot have rights, humans DO have duties and responsibilities. Most US communities do not allow a person to have a poorly kept, extremely unkempt or dangerous residence; similarly, humans are not allowed to abuse animals to the point of starvation, thirst, disease, and/or death. While I am a firm believer in animal welfare, I do not believe animals have rights, nor should they.

What are benefits of decreasing animal cruelty?

animals do not speak the same language as humans. Animals need a human to speak for them! If no one spoke for an animals rights, most animals would be extinct! Animals experience pain and torture just the same as us, someone has to speak up for them.

Which animals are clothing made from?

The most commonly farmed fur-bearing animals are minks, followed by foxes. Chinchillas, lynxes, and even hamsters are also farmed for their fur == == = = Fur producing weasels in the family - Mustelidae are badger, ermine, fisher, fitch (ferret) marten, mink, otter,

They do use dogs and cats for fur. Unfortunately, in a fur trading company in Asia, there are places that slaughter dogs and cats for their fur, passing it off as rabbit fur, or just not labeling it at all. These animals are treated cruelly and suffer until they are murdered by selfish ignorant killers Practically all animals that have fur are used to make fur coats. Its terrible, most of the time, the animals are breed and raised in mink farms, where they are kept and then murdered for there fur. They even keep animals that are not natural to that environment EX: Arctic foxes in 90 degree weather in California. I don't see how anyone could be so cruel, please don't support fur companies. Only heartless @%$&s wear fur.

Is not grooming horses considered animal abuse?

Some people would consider horse riding animal abuse. First of all, some people could argue that horses should not be held captive for human use in the first place. Next, the weight of a person riding a horse is uncomfortable and unnatural for horses. Finally, when it comes to racing, many jockeys whip the horse to make them go faster, which certainly causes pain and discomfort. I honestly, don't think it is, but I don't use a whip and horses weigh hundreds of pounds. It wouldn't be uncomfortable to carry a 80 lb. person to a 600 lb. horse

How long will the humane society keep an animal?

The Humane Society will keep an animal for three (3) days, and then the animal will be evaluated to determine whether or not he or she can be safely adopted to another family.

If the animal is determined not to be "adoptable" -- by way of aggression (the cat is wild, the dog bites too easily when his food is messed with, etc.), illness (most facilities do not have the money or resource to care for a sick animal, so they just put them down) or breed (Pit Bulls are not adoption candidates and are euthanized), the animal will be put down during the next day's "clean out".

Animals born in the facility are generally euthanized based on weight upon birth -- especially if the mother is aggressive. The facility I worked in would euthanize kittens who were 0.6 ounces underweight. I didn't stick around long enough to find out about the puppies; I couldn't take it anymore.

The facility will put down anywhere from 70-100 cats in a week or more. I am unsure about the number of dogs.

When did the law start against animal abuse?

There are no records of what year animal abuse started. It most likely dates back to when man first started to domesticate animals, if not before. The first law in the United States to protect domestic animals was passed in 1641.

What percentage of animals that scientists have tested died this year?

There is no simple answer to this question, what happens to an animal after the experiments depends on what was done to them. A number of the animals will go onto be used in other experiments and even a few of them may end up in a loving home. Occasionally cats and dogs from testing are adopted out to families and some of the primates used end up on wildlife reserves or in zoos, however this is not typically the case and usually only happens to animals that were used in behavioral as opposed to medical studies. Some experiments require the animal to be euthanized for sample collection or post-mortem examination. Even when the animal is not required the be euthanized side affects of the experiments have made the animal unsuitable for either further experimentation or life as a household pet.

What effect does animal testing have on animals?

The animal can be mutated, or become very sick from having substances tested on it.

Yes, most animals that get tested on either die or become very sick that may be tested on again and again if they didn't die.

Why it is important to take care of animals and wild life?

A lot of animals need your help! A lot of animals are already happily cared for in their own homes, but yet many still need you. Besides, it'll make you feel good that you've done something. Remember: it's not only humans - cats and dogs and all the rest of the injured or lonely animals have feelings and feel pain, too.

What people think about cruelty to animals?

I believe that animal cruelty is both wrong and inhumane. Animals feel just like humans do and its not accepted to skin a human alive so why should it be okay for humans to take rights away from animals. Being cruel is cruel so whoever you are being cruel to doesn't ever make it right or just because animals can't think or talk like humans doesn't mean that humans should act like animals and hurt them for any reason.

How many percent of animals are abused a year?

All of them

Chaining a pet and calling it yours and making yourself its master is always cruel. Just ask the black people, theyll tell you that it is always cruel no matter what.

The fact that you condone the chaining and enslaving of poor animals at all makes me think you obviously join this 100% percent of animal owners who abuse their pets. Heartless!

Why do people have horses if they going to slaughter them?

Prior to the suspension of inspection for horse slaughter plants in the US in 2007, horses were killed by first stunning the animal so that it was rendered insensible to pain immediately after the stunning then was bled out through severing the jugular veins and carotid arteries in the neck. This is still the method used in Canada and the regulated slaughter houses in Mexico.
