Can MacBook Pro be left in the heat?

Hopefully by "heat" you don't mean in an oven or on a BBQ grill! All computers don't take well to heat and laptops, with smaller fans and enclosures, can generate heat quickly. A MacBookPro will get very warm sitting on your lap after a few minutes.

You want to keep laptops in as cool an environment as possible when in in operation. If you're talking about in non-operation (shut down and not put to sleep), as long as it's not in direct sunlight and in a proper laptop case, the laptop will take the same temperatures as a human.

Is Apple Air Drop track able?

Apple AirDrop is designed with privacy in mind, and it does not track or log the specific transfers made between devices. While the transfer itself is encrypted and uses a peer-to-peer connection, Apple does not provide a way to track individual AirDrop activities. However, network administrators may monitor devices on a network, but this is not specific to AirDrop usage.

What does the color wheel mean in an Apple computer?

I work on Macs at my job. From my understanding, that spinning rainbow wheel indicates that the computer is trying to run an application, but is unsuccessful. It is similar to the stuck hour-glass in windows.

It also means that it is busy doing something, if the computer is taking longer then normal then it will show the "Beach Ball" to let you know to wait a few seconds until it can finish. If it's spinning for just a few seconds then that's ok but if it's been longer then a few minutes then the application you were using has probably crashed and it's just as well to "Force Quit" the Application you were using. You did save recently, didn't you? "Apple menu"/scroll down to" Force Quit...."/ then click on the dead application. You can also press Command-Option-Escape. If you have a lot of open applications in the back ground and you haven't quit them, they still take up a certain amount of Ram and then the computer has that much Less Ram to use, so it takes longer to do things.

If you're familiar with Windows, it's pretty much the same as an application "Not Responding".

How do you get an mp4 video to play on the MacBook Pro?

M4V and MP4 are 'containers' for audio and video files. They are basically the same, but QuickTime and iTunes can both open the MP4 if it contains audio or video files that follow the common formats. If an audio or video file uses unuwual compression, it may fail to open in QuickTime or iTunes.

There are 'tools' which will allow QuickTime and iT to work with more file types.

Install Perian and Flip4Mac, as well as MPEG Streamclip to enable a wide variety of audio and video formats.

How do you fix the Sad Mac problem?

On much older Macs, the Sad Mac screen means the POST (power-on self test) has failed, and therefore something has gone severely wrong, and is usually either not possible to fix or not worth it because of cost. It's also often hardware-related, which means you would actually have to open up your computer to fix it. If you want to know exactly what went wrong, the sad mac screen comes with a hexadecimal error code that you can look up to figure out what happened. (for example, something inside your computer came loose and no longer works) That, or you interrupted the startup sequence, which would just require a restart.

Keep in mind this problem only exists on very old Macs (Macs without USB ports) so if it's newer than that, you're probably misinterpreting what the Sad Mac screen is.

What file types can only be run by quicktime or Realplayer?

RealPlayer can play:

RM, RA, Ram, RT, RP, PNG, Gif, JPG, MP3, SWF, SMIL, SMI, WAV, AIFF, MPG, MPEG, AVI, ASF, MID, MIDI, RMI.

Quicktime can play all these plus many more. I would never recommend RealPlayer to anyone and never use it. I use Quicktime.

How do you keep MacBook Pro cool?

Taken straight from the Apple Support website;

"Do not place your MacBook Pro on a pillow or other soft material when it's powered on, as the material can block the airflow vents (in particular, the rear vents) and cause the computer to overheat. Never place anything over your keyboard when operating in closed-lid mode. This can cause your computer to cycle on and off, which might create excessive heat and drain your battery. When you're using your MacBook Pro or charging the battery, it's normal for the bottom of the case to get warm. For prolonged use, place your MacBook Pro on a flat, stable surface. Do not place your MacBook Pro on your lap or other body surface for extended periods of time. Prolonged body contact can cause discomfort and potentially a burn. The bottom of the MacBook Pro case functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the computer to the cooler air outside. The bottom of the case is raised slightly to allow airflow, which keeps the unit within normal operating temperatures. In addition, warm air is vented from the slots in the back of the case."
