How do I convert a Windows formatted hard drive to now work in a Mac computer as the hard drive?

The Windows formatting is probably MS DOS FAT 32 or NTFS. A Mac will be able to read from such formatted discs but will probably have problems writing to them without the aid of software such as MacFuse (See links below) . If you have no need for the Windows formatting connect the drive to the Mac. Open Disk Utility which is in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder. Select the drive from the left hand pane and select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from the Volume Format drop down menu.

What was Steve job's education?

Steve Jobs was a high school drop-out and went to Apple Computers in 1996.

Do you say apples to apples or apples with apples?

The common idiom is "comparing apples to apples" (and oranges to oranges) rather than "comparing apples and oranges" (alternatives that have little or nothing in common).

Example : A union complains that the engineers in a plant are paid more than the line workers. The company describes this as "comparing apples and oranges" because the activities and responsibilities of the positions are completely different.

Marketing mix of Apple Inc?

Simply the Marketing Mix is Product, Price, Promotion and Place. A number of important strategic philosophies and practices guide Marketing planning, tools, variables, efforts and/or Marketing relationships/partnerships/alliances. The Nine P's/9P's can be used successfully by product and service companies selling directly or indirectly to consumers (B2C), to intermediaries (such as industrial, consumer, retail, wholesale and professional channels of distribution), and to other businesses (B2B).

Larry Steven Londre owns a copyright for this concept, the Nine P's/9 P's ©2007, which augments the Marketing Mix and 4P's by the American Marketing Association, Neil Borden and Jerome McCarthy): The 9P's include: Planning; Product; Price; People or Targeting; Promotion, Place or Distribution; Partners; Presentation; Passion.

APPLE is really good at adding "Passion, in the 9P's of Marketing.

How is "Passion" defined: Those intense, driving or overmastering feelings, emotions in the marketing, developing, promoting and selling of products or services. Emotional, as distinguished from reason and rational decision making; A strong liking for or devotion to some activity; deep interest in your partnership/presentation of any of the 9P's© to any target or partner.

  • As a brand manager or marketing manager it starts with "believing" in the product and services you market and sell. And from research, it needs to show, in the "presentation" your passion for the product. Many sales persons dispute the concept that many sales people can sell anything, whether they believe in the product or not. That may have been true in the past, before the web, when manufacturers, producers and sellers held distinct information and specific product advantages, with buyers having limited choices. Not now.
  • Today, buyers can find tons of information about products, product lines, product variables, product attributes, distribution options, strategic partnerships, pricing, sales promotions, new product development, and more.
  • Salespeople have told me that believing leads to a deeper understanding of your product offerings, which allows sellers to better match what they have with what others need and buyers want.

Will apple inc fall?

Steve jobs situational leadership is Low relationship and low task and High readiness?

Steven Jobs is capable of using each of the four styles described in the Situational Leadership model. However, his style preference appears to be S4 (Style 4) - Low amount of task behavior (Structure) and low amount of relationship behavior (Support). Like many CEO is style profile is 1/4 and he tends to alternate between style 4 (above) and the very directive S1 (Style 1) High Task/Low Relationship. This kind of leader has little time for people requiring hand-holding. They tend to make a decision up front as to whether this person "gets it" or not. If you get it, then you tend to get a delegating (or abandoning) S4 and if you don't get it he tends to lay a bunch of structure on you. He does not suffer fools as we all know so he he doesn't have to use that style as much. There all well documented accounts of when he has -- they tend to be intense and memorable.

That said, I saw a recent story where he tried to use a S2 with a snotty user, a woman that wanted his PR Department to do her homework for her. The S2 didn't work so he snapped back to an S1 ... appropriately.

The problem with his style is that it tends to foster the all important self-fulfilling prophecy. If he delegates (S4) to you, you tend to rise to to the challenge of bootstrapping thyself for the task at hand. If he tends to use S1 then you become a quivering pile of goo. Once he's deemed you as "not getting it" it's near impossible to make it back into the (I got this" camp and in fact it may be time to pack your things.

In calm moments when the stakes are high for a task and he's working with people he's invested in, Steve is perfectly situational and flexes his styles appropriately as per Hersey's Situational Leadership model. This does not get much airplay.

How do I know? My sister worked for him at Apple Computer and I worked for Dr. Paul Hersey, (the man that developed Sit Lead) for nearly 20 years.

Great question - Sit Lead is the ultimate leadership hack but you're not gonna learn it on the web. The depth of this model is phenomenal and you must "peel the onion" to get it. Use organizationally (And Apple does) it becomes a virtual leadership operating system. See www.situational.com for more.

Good luck with the paper.

Can you only run Apple programs on Apple computers or can your run Windows programs as well?

Apple computers come with an operating system called Mac OS X and only software written for Mac OS X will work with them.

However modern Apple computers use Intel processors which means that they can also run the Windows operating system. If you have Windows installed on your Apple computer then you can run Windows software.

AnswerThere are a few ways to run Windows programs on your Mac:

1. You can install Windows as a separate operating system on your Mac using BootCamp (see http://www.apple.com/macosx/compatibility/)

2. You can run Windows inside of Mac OS X using an emulator such as Parallels Desktop(http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/), VMWare Fusion(http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/), or VirtualBox(http://www.virtualbox.org). VirtualBox is free to download and use, and the others offer free demos for download.

3. (Advanced) You can run Windows programs through using Wine, which can be installed for free on Mac OS X, but takes some time and computer savvy (see http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX/Installing and http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX/Building).

Was apple's decision to use Intel processors which allow the computer to run either Apple or windows operating system awise choice why?

Apple's decision to use Intel had a considerable effect on driving down their manufacturing costs, thanks to Intel's larger market share and efficiency creating chips. From that financial aspect, it had a direct positive effect on the bottom line by increasing their margins on each sale.

To protect themselves against people installing OS X on their own hardware, Apple uses a dedicated microchip that only they can put into the computer. OS X checks for the chip when it boots up, and if the chip is missing, then the system has a kernel panic and refuses to load. This protection is possible to work around by changing core files within the operating system, but this requires technical knowledge that is well beyond the vast majority of users' ability to use.

As for installing Windows on a mac, Apple isn't worried. Indeed, they offer software to let users do so. Apple's goal is to sell premium-priced hardware. They have come to understand that some software will never come to mac because there's too few users for the original developer to make money by creating a mac version.

Iif Apple has to choose between losing the hardware sale and users using Windows, they'll always prefer to make the sale. From this aspect, Apple certainly captured some business users by making it easy to run old windows software on the Intel macs. Also, the company is confident that users will prefer the user interface of OS X, so they don't see a serious threat of users using Windows instead. Beyond that, mac has a certain "cool" factor that makes many of their users very brand loyal. With the wide use of the iPhone, iPod and iPad, this becomes even more true over time.
