Autism is a neurological difference that people are born with, it effects autistic people their entire lives. Autistic people may be more severely effected as children but as they grow-up they learn to manage their autism a little better, wheras lack of support means autistic people can be more severely effected as they start to enter old age.

In his days schizophrenia was the term used for a lot of different mental problems. After his death many theories have been presented as to the exact nature of his condition, but I do not think autism is one of them.

A: The "normal" effects on children when referring to Adderall should in fact be calming, and focusing. Your child shouldn't be an emotional wreck when taking Adderall. You need to talk to your doctor about the sudden abnormal side effects the Adderall is causing, because sometimes it causes suicidal thoughts and worsens unknown psychological illnesses. They will probably switch your child to a non-stimulant medication such as Strattera. And another thing perhaps the reason that the Adderall is acting adversely could be that he is also autistic. Because in that case the Adderall would definetly worsen the autism.

As someone who has Asperger's Syndrome, I can honestly tell you that you have very little to worry about. The symptoms, from what I've observed with myself and the few others with the disorder, differ from person to person. Don't feel uncared about, if your boyfriend doesnt seem to care as much about you as himself. We dont mean to come across this way... Sometimes, it's hard for me to express how I feel about other people, so I find I end up talking about things from the view of how I would feel about something, as oppose to how I believe someone else must feel. The biggest problem I have, is communicating with other people. But most people I have met with Aspergers, are very caring, very compassionate people. We just dont do so well with expression. My brother has it, and yes, it does. Children with Asperger's syndrome do forget a lot due to the ongoing changes of subjects. Yes. People with AS, as studies have shown, have additional quantity's of white matter (or memory storage space) in their brains. They have typical amounts Grey matter (or processing space).people with AS are less likely to prune the knowledge they acquire and in addition to this indiscriminate gathering of knowledge they are more likely to dynamically cross-reference and systematize such knowledge. People with AS often have very visual ways of receiving and storing knowledge. All of these factors add up two people with AS having quite exceptional memory capabilities

Hyperlexia can be a symptom or a "splinter skill" occurring in individuals on the autism spectrum, or it can be a condition on its own. I found a great article on this (http://www.wisconsinmedicalsociety.org/savant_syndrome/savant_articles/hyperlexia) that basically states there are three different types of hyperlexia: hyperlexia in neurotypical children, hyperlexia in autistic children, and hyperlexia in neurotypical children with autistic-like symptoms.

In the first type, Type 1, hyperlexia occurs without any related social or behavioral symptoms. These are children who read and comprehend at an unnaturally early age, but grow up to follow the typical patterns of development. The skill tends to level off as the child ages, meaning that while the child starts off well beyond his or her age group when the hyperlexia first presents, the gap typically lessens as the child gets older. Children in this age group tend to be intelligent and gifted students, but are otherwise indistinguishable from their peers.

Type 2 is hyperlexia occurring as an aspect of an autism spectrum disorder. While not a reliable symptom for diagnosing autism or a related condition, hyperlexia can occur in autistic children. Here, the hyperlexia is just a part of the greater condition.

Type 3 occurs in children who are not autistic, but still present with "autistic-like" symptoms. These children have the precocious reading ability, but unlike the Type 1 children they have specific deficits alongside this skill. They may have delayed language. Acquisition of speech doesn't occur at the same rapid pace the child is acquiring reading skills; early speech is often repetitive and limited to scripted responses. While the child's language may be superficially perfect, the situation in which it was used may not be. The understanding of language may also be affected. These children may not understand as much as they can read or may have trouble with abstract concepts. Beyond language skills, other autistic-like symptoms may be present. They may show an intense need for routine or sameness, have sensory issues, or stim. They may often be socially active and affectionate among family members, but be extremely reserved outside the home. According to some experts, the Type 3 children grow out of these issues, typically within the first years of school, and go on to meet the expected developmental milestones.

According to others, hyperlexia is a life-long condition in which individuals have a continued fascination with language, social problems, and figurative language problems. Some say that if hyperlexia is present it is unconditionally indicative of autism, while others say that it is a similar but wholly unrelated condition. There is no clear consensus on the matter because hyperlexia is such a new and relatively unstudied condition.

The bible speaks of "time and unforeseen occurrence". This means that people may have things that happen to them that is not planned by anyone or anything. God does not punish people right now in this world. The evil things that are happening right now are because of who is ruling the world at this time. 1 John 5:19 says, "We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one". The world is lying in the power of satan right now. But we can be confident that Jehovah will soon act against the evil and bring true justice to the world.

Actually the character, Temperance Brennan and the fact that she is an Aspie has NEVR been proven on the show. It is quite obvious that she could have it BUT her past could be a large contributor to her poor social skills. Nothing is 'DEFINITELY' true if not proven by someone who actually has all the facts first (eg. the writers!).

Be cautious when trying to pursue an aggressive treatment plan. Sometimes it can do more harm than good. For instance, pulling a child out of school too often for therapy can cause the child to fall behind with their classwork. My parents treated me with speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy until I was about 14 years old. They also treated me with concerta at first, and then the generic equivalent of adderall. I do not recommend these medications! They have the ability to cause violent mood swings, trouble sleeping, and problems with appetite. They also made very little difference in my academic performance. In the course of my life some of the things that have benefited me most as an autistic person came from my parents, and not my therapists. My parents took the time out to teach me the social skills that I lacked. It was through daily encounters such as church, going to a restaurant, going shopping, or doing pretty much anything out in public. With their encouragement, I even trained myself to the point where I no longer needed the ADD medication. I have a dual diagnoses of asperger's syndrome (a milder form of autism) and ADD. Of course, the type of treatment depends on the severity of the case of autism. Mine is obviously not that severe. I also recommend that the autistic person should live as normal as a life as possible! Jobs, college, friends, and romantic relationships are not off-limits to autistic people, though some people who listen to the stereotypes about autistic people often think that is the case.

Many children with autism have sensory integration disorder. They might be oversensitive or undersensitive to sensory input. For example, a person with autism might be oversensitive to sound - hearing sounds that other people do not, panicking at certain sounds, being unable to function in an area that is too noisy. The volume, the pitch, the tone, the quality - certain ones can be painful to a person with sensory integration disorder.

Yes, an autism spectrum exists. It involves autistic disorder, asperger syndrome childhood disintegrative disorder, rett syndrome and persuasive developmental disorder; depending on the affected individual, he or she can display mild, severe or symptoms somewhere in between based on these categories. Behaviors displayed can vary from individual to individual and individual variations exist as well. Autistic disorder is the most severe form of autism and asperger sydrome is the mildest form.

Autism manifests itself differently in each person , but these people can be tempermental and have trouble establishing contact with new people. I think you have confused this with Down Syndrome . These people are very affectionate, huggy/ kissy types for the most part. Some do have impulse control issues , but for the most part are lovable and sweet.

Not necessarily. A lot of children are extremely smart but because of the impact it has on their ability to communicate well, it makes them appear less intelligent. I am sure some are intellectually impaired but that is not the case with all and some or genius by testing results as well.
