No, this is another internet myth. People complain about presidents all the time, and they also complain about the government. Since Americans are guaranteed freedom of speech, they can write to a newspaper or post on a blog or call a talk show and express their disapproval of the president or the government.

Contrary to internet myths usually found on conservative websites, President Obama has not arrested anyone who complained about him. But it should be noted that any person who makes a threat against the president will receive a visit from the Secret Service or from law enforcement: complaining about the president is protected speech but threatening or advocating violence is not protected at all, nor should it be.

But now, the Benghazi situation has been turned into political theater. No-one disputes that the death of the ambassador was a tragic event; but so were the eleven embassy attacks that occurred under President Bush, none of which ever caused Republicans in congress to demand hearings or call for impeachment. Unfortunately, House Republicans have decided to to try to turn this one, because it occurred under President Obama, into a weapon to attack him politically and possibly weaken future presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

That said, there were absolutely mistakes made in what happened the day the ambassador died, and an impartial investigation has been looking into those failures. (The lack of funding for embassy security is certainly a factor, but there were other problems too, including how the original attack was first explained.) However, there is another phenomenon that is worth noting here: whenever one side wins a presidential election, there are partisans on the losing side who want to find a reason to have the winner removed from office somehow. This occurred when George W. Bush was president, and we see a similar emotion about Barack Obama. Impeaching a president is a serious matter, and it is not supposed to be about politics or partisanship. At this point, whether or not you like Mr. Obama, there is no evidence he has committed any impeachable offenses, about Benghazi or anything else.

A majority do and that is why he got elected. But you ask a good question: if you only listen to right-wing and conservative talk shows and read right-wing and conservative publications, you would certainly assume nobody likes Mr. Obama, because those sources criticize him day and night. But the truth is political talk shows and political networks do not always represent the mass audience. It is always a good idea to get balance by listening to a variety of news stations and read a variety of newspapers for a balanced view.
