After days of very little REM (under an hour) I took one xanax .25mg at bedtime, then another at 3:00a.m.-same dosage- and got 1 hour, 56 minutes of REM sleep. I haven't repeated b/c I don't want to become dependent, and it could have just alleviated anxiety and allowed me to catch up on a REM deficit. But it certainly didn't seem to suppress REM either.

If I were you I wouldn't take st john wort. I've heard that it can make ptsd worse in some cases. I would try wellbutrin or budiproprion (Spelling) instead. Slowly wean from cymbalta. It can make you severely depressed and or manic even if you have never been. Also wellbutrin and the budi meds are the most natural meds they make for ptsd, depression, etc. if that's what your worried about. Good luck! :)

1mg, Three times a day for 2 weeks = 3mg per day

1mg, Two times a day for 2 weeks = 2mg per day

0.5mg, Three times a day for 2 weeks = 1.5mg per day

0.5mg, Two times a day for 2 weeks = 1mg per day

NOTE: At this point, I used 0.5mg Xanax Tablets so I could break them in half to make 0.25mg pieces.

0.25mg, Two times a day for 2 weeks = 0.5mg per day

0.25mg, Once per day for 2 or 3 weeks = 0.25mg per day

At this point, I was able to stop without having any withdrawals.

Depending on which pain killers are you talking about ... paracetamol ( simple analgesic is ok ) but the one that contain opioid derivatives and codeine are not good and should be only be used with specialist care

The paradoxical effect is the name used to describe instances when, instead of decreasing anxiety and manic episodes, it actually increases them. While this can happen in some patients with the first dose, in a sense, it happens to virtually all patients who have become addicted. The difference is simply, when the effect happens in relation to when the medication is taken.

In the case of a simple side effect, the symptoms are usually apparent within minutes of taking Ativan. The patient will become agitated and difficult to deal with. The paradoxical effect will cause or worsen a panic attack.

No, dont drink too much while on xanax, maybe a beer, but nothing more than that. I've had several blackouts and crazy mood swings and night terrors when i used to mix xanax and alcohol......it would not get it out, it would make it worse. small doses of both i recommend, I'm not a doctor or anything i just have a lot of street smarts and book smart under my belt so trust me, mixing any kind of benzodiazopine or opiates with alcohol is not a good idea.

I was using Xanax exclusively for flying. On my last trip to China I took a pill and the next day developed a severe ice pick headache on the left side of my temple shooting towards the ear. This lasted for 4 months. I did not make an association with Xanax at the time. I thought that the headache was a result of being in the high altitude in Tibet for 2 weeks as we ascended to the Everest base camp. When got back to the US, consulted my neurologist 2 times as the ice pick throbbing would not go away. He said no worries, had an MRI, all normal.

Recently my mother was visiting, I gave her Xanax for the flight back, she slept like a baby for 12 hours only to wake up to an ice pick headache on the left side of her temple, just like mine. It has been a week now that she has suffered this horrific headache.
