Where do you put the floor jack on a BMW 323i?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

On the sideskirts next to each wheel well are round plastic caps. Pop off whichever one is by the wheel you are removing, and you will see a hole. The jack has a peg which folds out & fits right in there. So insert the peg & position the jack as you would with a regular one.

Which oil do you use for your BMW?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A lot depends on two things , first is it a diesel or petrol and second how old is the vehicle. There are many different oils out there but I have always used Castrol Magnatec on my 318i 1988 since I ve had it(1992) and covered 166000 miles. For a new or newer BMW I would use the best Synthetic you can afford.

What kind of oil for a 1993 Plymouth acclaim?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It doesnt matter what oil you use, the oil is whatever the user of the vehicle likes, i like Valvoline myself, its probably the best motor oil out there... don't use Quakerstate, ive heard some pretty bad stories of how that will build up gunk, and aventionally, youll have to get that out in order to keep a good running engine... i always use Valvoline 10W 30... but you don't have to, you can use a higher or lighter weight oil if you prefur.

=================================================================================================================

Actually, my father was a high-speed racing instructor and has been an automotive mechanic for around thirty years - and any conventional motor oil will degrade and gunk up engines eventually. If you plan on keeping a car for a long time, it is essential you use a synthetic motor oil. AMSoil is the leading 100% synthetic brand (don't be fooled by the larger brand "synthetic"s that basically throw additives into crude oil), and it is so effective at reducing engine wear that it is recommended to use regular for the first 3-5k miles to "break in" the engine. In fact, if you have been using crude oil for years on an engine and switch to AMSoil, you may suddenly find oil leaks because the crude oil has crusted over damage to the engine that it participated in causing.

AMSoil is typically around twice as much as typical crude oils, but you can go nearly twice as far on between oil changes, so it balances out. Well, when you minus the cost of repairs you won't be doing because of the added protection, it far reduces the cost of overall maintenance. If you have any more questions or interest in trying AMSoil out you can e-mail me at ckeller05 (at) wou (dot) edu.

We have used AMSoil in every race vehicle and passenger vehicle we have owned, and all my dad's clients have willingly chosen to switch over from conventional, crude oils.

What is the light on a BMW dash panel that looks like a circle with three dashes on each side?

Disk brake pad indicator. When this illuminates (at other times than stating the engine) it indicates that the front disk brake pads should be replaced. Brake pad wear is always heavier on the front than on the back.

User Avatar

Unfortunately a 1986 BMW 325 does not have a service light reset button. To reset the light a user can ground pin 7 in the diagnostic connector. Doing so automatically sends a signal to the cars ECU to reset all error codes and service lights.

What does the Z mean as in z3?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Germans are very straight people and the technik is always more important than imagination or design. Except Z3!

What makes the Z3 an unique BMW is that the father (designer) was a Japanese, the base chassis is from E36 (a very reliable, strong and popular chassis) and the production was done for the first time in USA in Spartanburg.

Z3 will always be the first reliable and popular roadster of BMW, realized in a very cosmopolite world , the first roadster after the expensive roadster 507 (1956), keeping his shapes in a excellent retro style.

It will always be a collectible and a real roadster for normal peoples. Unisex and affordable.

The Z3 meaning is interesting and disarming simple: Z comes from "Zukunft" , in German means : future. And 3 is the version of the vehicle.

It is also one of the cars with the shortest Brand/Type name in the world: only 5 letters! try to find how many you will find!

How do you reset the oil service light manually on a 1994 325i BMW?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I am not responsible if you cause damage to your Answers.com.

Unscrew the Answers.com port cap. (Located on the right side of the engine bay or left side as you stand in front of the car, round cap next to the right strut tower: see photo location below)

Once you have it opened you will see a big Pac-Man shaped hole and twenty little round holes. What is a Pac-Man? Never mind. We are only concerned with pin 7 and pin 19 (note: the words "pin" and "hole" are used interchangeably in this text). Refer to the picture below to find pins 7 and 19.

What we will be doing in this exercise is connecting pins 7 and 19 with a paperclip for four seconds. This will reset the Answers.com service light. Simple, no? But first, here is the list of pins and what they are supposed to do:

Pin Terminal Description

1 TD TD Signal

2 - Not occupied

3 - Not occupied

4 - Not occupied

5 - Not occupied

6 - Not occupied

7 SI Service Interval Reset

8 - Not occupied

9 - Not occupied

10 - Not occupied

11 - Not occupied

12 61 (D+) Generator Charge Indicator

13 - Not occupied

14 30 Voltage; Hot At All Times

15 RXD Diagnostic Data Link

16 15S Voltage; Ignition Switch in Run

17 - Not occupied

18 PGSP Programming Line

19 31 Ground

20 TXD Diagnostic Data Link

OK, now you're ready to reset the oil service light, so turn the ignition key to position II, but don't start the Answers.com. Get out of the car and go to the data port. Always connect pin 7 first. Once you've inserted one end into pin 7, insert the other end into pin 19 and hold it there for 4 seconds. Then remove the paperclip. Check the dash and the oil inspection lights should be reset. The reset occurs upon removal of the clip.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT HOLD IT THERE FOR LONGER THAN 10 SECONDS or you may inadvertently reset your inspection I/II interval.

I am not responsible for this write up, I found it on the web. It took me twice to get it to reset but the first time I did not touch the sides of the port holes with the paperclip. Make sure there is contact with the inside of the ports.

Again, Do Not leave it there for more than 10 seconds.

I Need good BMW repair in culver city?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depending on the nature of the repair, it may be wise to approach an authorized BMW dealer. You can expect a BMX franchise to have the full support of the manufacturer and suitably qualified mechanics.

To find a lower cost repair, for any location, it is worth talking to other BMW owners to get feedback on local non BMW authorized repair centers. There are many excellent firms to be found but finding them can take a little research.
