The male BMX rider in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing was Liam Phillips. He did not advance to the semifinals after placing 18th and 7th in his two quarterfinal races, placing him in 28th place.

Can you put a bmx bike in fixed gear mode?

Kinda, sorta.

You can certainly (have someone) build a BMX wheel around a fixie hub.

I suppose you could somehow disable the freewheeling action of a regular hub too, but I wouldn't recommend it. Putting back pressure on the pedals on a bike that hasn't a real fixie hub can cause the sprocket to unscrew.

What BMX crank should you get small or large?

It really depends on your height. If your legs are longer, you should use that to your advantage and use the leverage of a longer crank. If you use a longer crank and don't have long legs, you can feel like you're riding a hear or two higher than you actually are, so make sure you don't get cranks that are too long!

If i change the size of a sprocket on a bmx bike will i have to change anything else?

You might have to either lengthen or shorten the chain, depending on if you're getting a bigger or smaller sprocket.

What are the things coming from the wheel on a BMX called?

Not sure what you mean here.

If you are talking about the thin wires going from the center part of the wheel - the hub - to the outer part of the wheel - the rim - those are called spokes.

If you are talking about the fairly short, stubby things sticking out sideways from the hub, you're talking about pegs.

Is it likely that a bmx chainring will fit on a road bike?

No.

Some BMX chainrings have the same 4/5 bolt pattern as road bikes, but most use another method of attachment to the crank.

If it is a 4/5 bolt chainring you first have to measure the bolt circle diameter to see how that fits. I'll post a link on that.

Next is the thickness of the chain rings. BMXes are single-speed and use a thicker chain. Most road bikes have external gears and need a thinner, more flexible chain to work. I'm not sure if a road bike chain will fit on a BMX chainring.

(Unless it's a single-speed road bike of course. Then you can run a BMX-style chain and all can be made to work.)

How do you change hubs on a bmx bike?

There's usually not much point in changing hubs, as that requires tearing the wheels completely apart - spoke by spoke. and unless the flanges of the new hubs are within mm of the same size the old spokes won't fit. Often cheaper simply to buy new wheels.

But if you insist: remove every spoke from the hub + rim , then lace up the new hubs to the old rim, tension and true.

How much is a 1969 Schwinn lowrider bike worth?

It depends on what you have. If it's just a springer and some 140 spoke rims, not much.

Sadly, It's not the Schwinn part that makes a lowrider valuable, it's the parts. The quality of the parts, and the plating on the parts are extremely important. Design is the most important thing, but being on a Schwinn frame doesn't hurt though.

Here's the deal though, you are never going to get out of your bike what you put into it. It's used.

If you build custom for other people by order, then you can make some coin and build your rep as a customizer.

Enter a few shows, show your product. Better yet, win a few and sell out big.

How many links are in a mongoose model 270 bmx bikes chain?

Good bikes are made in different frame sizes. And dedicated riders often chainge the gearing ratio by replacing either the sprocket or the driver with one with another tooth count than it came with.

These things influence chain length, so you see that no one can tell how many links your chain should be.

Chains are just about Always bought a Little long, then cut to length on the bike. Faster than counting links. Chain breakers aren't expensive. Either have a shop fit the chain when you buy it, or get a chain breaker (and a quicklink) and fit it yourself.

Do note that chain, driver and sprocket wear together, but usually the chain wears the fastest.

So sticking a new chain on old sprockets can often lead to the chain skipping and slipping.

If you don't know how to measure a chain for wear, better replace aat least chain and driver at the same time.
