Why does the temperature gage drop in a 2001 Chevy Malibu?

try this....i hope that this will help you; i am also having a problem with my temp but i have been told by a friend that works on race cars that it is 1 of 3 problems.

1. the temperature switch has gone bad(the switch looks like a spark plug, which is just to the left of the thermostat)

2. your thermostat is going bad,(if your car is over heating it is definitely your thermostat! your thermostat is probably the least expensive part on your Malibu but is the hardest part to replace!)

3. i was told that there is a temperature relay switch, dealership has to tell you where it is, i unfortuatley have not got that far yet so if you get to the dealership before i do please email me; garydjohnsonjr2003@yahoo.com. good luck.

p.s.

if your car has over 70k miles it will be next to impossible to take the bolts out of the exhaust(this is covering up the thermostat cover). the bolts are rusted and you are liable to break the bolts and then you are super screwed. it might be safer to just have the dealership do it. that way if they break anything they have to repair it!

Which is cooler a humans regular body temperature or 100 degrees Fahrenheit?

A humans at 98.6 Fahrenheit. The irony is that 100 Fahrenheit was supposed to be the normal human body temperature but Mr. Fahrenheit must have had a temperature on the day that he measured it !

What is body sobriety?

To me, that means being a dry-drunk. That is, the object of the addiction is removed, such as alcohol or cocaine, but the dysfunctional behaviors are still present, such as self-centered-ness, manipulative behavior, resentments, etc.

But apparently it is also a trademarked recovery program/center/book in LA, yet another person making money of of supposedly helping others. One center employee bio reads:

Daniella, who has been with Body Sobriety for four years, has seen the amazing positive results of Network Spinal Analysis. This coupled with her background in finance and communications has made her an invaluable member of the Body Sobriety Team. For eight years Daniella worked in the entertainment industry, building production companies, producing shows and managing film and TV productions.

Personally, I fail to see how any of that is a qualification for anything.

Is an operating temp of about 148 - 165 degrees too low?

it sounds a little low. you can't cause any damage this way, but you wont get much heat in the winter, and the engine may not pass emissions, if you are in an area that tests that. check to see if the car has a thermostat, or if the existing one is stuck open. then replace it, they are cheap.

Why are digital thermometers used these days?

Digital thermometers have replaced mercury thermometers because mercury is toxic. [Personal commentary: digital thermometers are not accurate and mercury thermometers are so how many people are being harmed by not knowing their temperature versus how many would be harmed by the mercury if accurate thermometers were still used?]
