Well, the fact that you call her a friend still amazes me. A real friend wouldn't have done that. Besides that you could tell the ex what happened, but it might be a sign that she was able to talk to you out of him because he wasn't right.

what you need to do is to sit down with your ex talk to him and tell him how you feel and if he loves you, you will be together and then you need to sit down with your "friend" and ask her why she would do that to you. If she is truly a friend you'll get everything worked out.

The same thing happened to me, through this ordeal i found out that my best friend took away everything good in my life at the moment. She will do this again. If your ex still loves you he will come back but stay away from the friend.

There are several ways, positive and negative, to react to disappointment. A healthy way is to try to keep things in perspective, and use the disappointment for motivation.

Kick the ex to the curb for good and cut off all contact. Once a cheater, always a cheater! Unless you like getting hurt, don't involve yourself with your ex anymore. You can still love him, any two people can love one another, but it doesn't mean you should have a relationship. You will still have feelings for your ex because at one time you were together and shared a lot of personal things with this person. He will always be a part of your life and growth.
