What are two popular examples of broadband technology?
GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a digital mobile telephone system that is widely used in Europe and other parts of the world. High-Speed Circuit-Switched Data (HSCSD)is circuit-switched wireless data transmission for mobile users at data rates up to 38.4 Kbps POTS stands for Plain Old Telephone System GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) is a packet-based wireless communication service that, when available in 2000, promises data rates from 56 up to 114 Kbps and continuous connection to the Internet for mobile phone and computer users. Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is a set of CCITT/ITU standards for digital transmission over ordinary telephone copper wire as well as over other media. IDSL is a system in which digital data is transmitted at 128 Kbps on a regular copper telephone line (twisted pair) from a user to a destination using digital (rather than analog or voice) transmission, bypassing the telephone company's central office equipment that handles analog signals. IDSL uses the Integrated Services Digital Network (Integrated Services Digital Network) Basic Rate Interface in ISDN transmission code. 1. Possible answers: cable modem and DSL
Is the Dell Inspiron a good laptop?
The Dell Inspiron 1520 is pretty good. With 2GB of ram its a pretty good choice. The price is a factor though. HP offers a laptop at about the same ratings for a bit cheaper and a bigger screen. But it all comes down to preference though. With dell you do get performance but you are also paying for the name. My recomendation is to go for the HP way pretty good quality at a reasonable Price.
I own one Dell 1520 , which I think is pretty good just as above . However , I should recommend it according to my personal experience , but I had to say it is the 08 model , which is outdated in the context of 2009 .

What are dangers of the internet for children?
It doesn't have to be, but teens may be more vulnerable to online predators (like adults looking for sex with minors) and various other scams.
Safety rules are similar to elsewhere in society:
What country first declared internet broadband access to be a legal right?
Ministry of Transport and Communications, Finland, declared access to broadband connection as a fundamental right to all of its citizens. Finland now has become the first nation to make internet broadband a fundamental right, promising 1 mbps connectivity on demand and 100 mbps by the year 2015. Though this project will not be subsidized by the Government, it will be a basic low cost connection that will be provided by the internet service providers of Finland to all citizens.
What is a 1394 connection in laptop?
"1394" refers to the number of the IEEE standard created for "Firewire", a high speed serial wired communications protocol developed by Apple Computer to transfer digital data over short distances, such as between computers and external hard disks. Serial means that the signal is carried over a single pair of wires known as a twisted pair, using low voltage differential signaling, a method that supports both high speed and good noise immunity. Additional wires carry ground and power. Prior systems used parallel wiring with 8 or more wires carrying a byte at a time, but at lower bit rates. The cables were bulky and expensive, hence the desire for a serial standard. The original standard, Firewire 400, supported 400 Mbps, a later version, Firewire 800, 800 Mbps (using additional wires, but still many fewer than parallel interfaces). Similar to USB 2.0, Firewire is generally faster, and supports daisy chaining and hot swapping. Additional information may be found at HowStuffWorks.com or Wikipedia under "Firewire".
Can two people in different countries have the same ip address?
Yes. Two or more people can be assigned the same IP consecutively if using a dialup ISP. If you are talking about the IP address that one's computer "reports as" when surfing the web, then it's possible that hundreds of computers all share the same IP address at the very same time. It all depends on if your ISP is using caching and proxy techniques. All ISP assign pools around your city and your ISP sets your internet up to join one making you share an IP with hundreds of other people around your area so every IPV4 IP doesn't get taken up by dedicated IPs.
Which cable type is used by a catv connection?
WiMAX - uses a low wavelength transmission, usually between 2 GHz to 11 GHz. These frequencies are not as easily disrupted by physical obstructions because they can better bend around obstacles than higher frequencies.
How internet download manager increases the downloading speed?
Usually, if you're downloading a file, the download server is limiting the download speed, and not your internet connection (though this might be different if your connection is slow)
The download manager splits the file into multiple segments, and downloads the segments from different servers, so that every segment has it's own download speed for a total download speed that is far higher.
Meg is short for megabyte, which is why a lot people get confused.
There is a difference between, MBps and Mbps.
MBps = MegaBytes per Second
Mbps = Megabits per Second
Notice the difference between the upper and lower case 'b'? It matters.
For instance all isp's use the Mbps = Megabits which makes it look like a good offer.
If you're referring you have a '3 Meg' connection, than it's 3 Megabit (Mbit/ps or Mbps).
3 Mbps = 0.375 MBps (Anotherwards it's not 1 MegaBytes)
If you want 1 MBps (Megabytes) = 1 MBps = 8 Mbps
If you see an offer for 8 Mbps you'll be getting approx. 1 Megabyte down.
Difference between broadband and dsl lines?
Many DSL connections are broadband, but not all broadband is DSL. Broadband is a type of telecommunication that uses multiple data channels to send large volumes of information. The term broadband is an abbreviation of "broad bandwidth." Broadband Internet services such as DSL and cable are considered to be high-bandwidth connections. Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be sent along a given channel per second.
There are three popular types of broadband Internet service: satellite, DSL and cable. Satellite Internet uses a satellite that's in orbit around the Earth to facilitate the transfer of data. DSL transfers data along unused bandwidth on ordinary telephone cable. Cable Internet uses a coaxial television cable to provide Internet service.
The slowest of all broadband services is DSL. It is also the least expensive service. It offers speeds up to 6 megabits per second (Mbps). Cable is faster, but it's less reliable and more expensive. Although cable Internet service providers often advertise download speeds up to 30 Mbps, cable users rarely achieve these speeds. Satellite is the most expensive of all commonly used broadband Internet services. Satellite speeds can range anywhere between 1 and 3 Mbps. The Federal Communications Commission now defines a broadband connection as having speeds of 768 Kbps. Therefore, not all DSL connections are considered broadband
How do you determine the speed of your internet connection?
There are many websites out there that will give you reasonably accurate test for speed. Just google "internet speed test" and you will see many. I recommend www.speedtest.net because it is pretty nice visually and it tries to find the closest computer to you so you can get a more accurate test. Always know that just because the test shows you are slower than what you think you should be, that it all depends on network traffic at the time so use the test several times and then average the speeds together.
How do you secure a wirless broadband connection?
Typically in your wireless router there is an administration page (look in your manual) this usually will give you the option of encrypting your network traffice using a security key. there are several options out there including (WPA, WEP), etc. You will need to set a key on the router and also on your wireless access card on your computer. The other option is to set your router to filter MAC addresses and give it the mac address of your network card. It will then block all traffic except that traffic from your network card.
Which company offers the cheapest broadband?
AT&T is offering broadband plans for as low as $14.95 a month for a basic package or $19.95 for a premium package. This however is just the introductory price and will raise after the trial period.
Where can a person go to find reviews of broadband telephone services?
Electronics and PC-specific magazines may have their own website versions of their magazines available online with a segment devoted strictly to reviews of popular broadband carriers. Realistic broadband speeds may be compared on forums.
How many bytes in a Blu-ray movie?
A Blu-Ray disc can hold up to a maximum of 50 GB of data, which is 5 times more than a DVD can hold
What is the difference between phone broadband and cable broadband for wireless connection?
Mobile broadband refers to a high speed internet connection provided by a cellular company such as a tethered cell phone or a cellular network card. Wireless broadband is a high speed connection typically provided by a land line attached to a wireless router.
Is username the same as email address?
No. The username is part of the e-mail address, which is username@domain.dom.
What is the difference between wired and wireless media?
In a wired medium, data travels as electrical signals (or optical, in the case of fiber optics), through glass. In a wireless medium, no wires are used, and the signal travels as an electromagnetic wave through the air.
That could be that the computers you are connecting to with utorrent at the time are only sending data to you at that speed. You can have the fastest internet connection on the planet and you are still limited by how fast the computer on the other end can serve you data.
Is social networking good or bad for kids?
Yes it is because it helps people be more social if they weren't already. Being social is part of our human nature, social networking can help with that.
How do you hear a police scanner on a computer?
There are scanners that can allow the average person to listen to police calls, but they may be somewhat hard to find. Many years ago, the "police band" was 1650 to 1750 kHz, and large home radio sets were able to tune those frequencies - people sat at home on dull evenings and listened to police calls - I'm old enough to remember that!
See the related link below. There are several others available sources, which you can find with any search engine.
What broadband connection type has the fastest speeds?
The fastest internet connection in the world is 40gbps. However the fastest consumer broadband in the world is in select parts of Jersey(Saint Helier, Saint Clement etc.). In Jersey you can get speeds of 1 GigaBit, through government owned ISP Jersey Telecom.
Where can one find a guide to set up household broadband?
Information and guides about broadband wireless networking can be found at Motorola Solutions, T-Mobile, Clearwire, Verizon and AT&T. For support and installation, Geek Squad offers one day service at its retail locations.
