How do you take a door panel off on a 1990 Buick Electra?
First, remove the triangle shaped light at the rear of the panel. It's easy to break, you must get a slim screwdriver behind it to release the plastic tab that holds it. There is a screw underneath.Remove the sideview mirror panel. One screw under it.The door pull handle has two screws, there is either a cover over them, or they are accessed from below at an angle. Remove the power window, seat, mirror switches. They are held by a spring clip at the front of the switch. Use a slim screwdriver to pry this back, insert between the armrest and switch at the front. Careful not to damage the armrest, it's easy to do. There are Torx head screws which hold the wiring harnesses. Remove these, and CAREFULLY pry the harnesses of, straight out. It is easy to break the switch, apply pressure between the switch and harness only. With the switches out, you can see the remaining screws to remove. After that it's just the plastic "Christmas tree" clips around the perimeter of the panel, these are best removed with a tool made for this purpose, with a "V" end. Pry only on the clip itself, not the panel, or the clip might pull out of the panel and damage the hole it's mounted in.

You have to first take off the guard to the starter which only has one bolt. Once you take off the one bolt you have to slide the bottom of the guard toward the passenger side. Once you have the guard out there is a bolt above the last bolt you removed its a 15mm or at least on mine it is. Then on the opposite side towards the trunk there is another bolt this one is longer it as well use's the same socket. Once you have that bolt out, let the rear end of the starter to fall slightly and then pull the starter toward the passenger side.
Note: make sure you take off all the electrical parts off the end and make sure you disconnect the battery first before doing anything.
