How do you know if a giraffe is a male or a female?
While this question has nothing to do with fish and should be elsewhere I can answer you. The Okapi is related to the Giraffe and is the same as most other mammals having external genital organs just like you and I do. The males have the normal Testes in a Scrotum and a Penis in its sheath under the body and between the animals legs. The female has a Vulva in close proximity to its Anus. So, the way to tell the difference is simply to look.
Bees eat honey.
Bees ingest the nectar of plants and flowers only to regurgitate it (after it has mixed with enzymes in the bees stomach) as honey.
The honey is placed into cells and capped with wax. In order for bees to survive the winter they have to have sufficient honey stored in the hive, because that is their food. Bees will also eat sugar syrup (thick sugar water).
They do also eat pollen, but its not a main food source and is actually mixed with honey and mostly used for royal jelly that the larva eat.
Worker bees eat pollen and honey. The queen bee eats royal jelly.

How do you get rid of cochineal?
* If you catch the problem in the very early stages with just a few white tufts, you can spray them off with water. Be sure to do a thorough job and check back every few days. Repeat as necessary.
* If the problem is more advanced, you probably will have to use chemicals. We find Malathion to be adequate. Mix to the recommended strength for ornamentals -- cactus is usually not listed on the label. Add a little liquid soap to the mix so the water/Malathion stays on the plant better. Spray thoroughly paying special attention to the places where the pads or joints come together. This process should be repeated seven days later and again fourteen days later to catch the bugs you missed AND to get the newly hatched cochineal that were protected by egg cases. You will know your treatment is successful when the white tufts turn a dingy gray and squeezing them does not produce the crimson stain.
What would you need to keep a caterpillar?
Its host plant - the plant you found it on. Most caterpillars won't eat anything else. Make sure it can eat continually, as that's most important to it. Caterpillars are built to eat the whole time, and grow the whole time. The best would be to have the plant in a pot in its cage so the leaves are fresh (replace the plant when there's no leaves left :P). Also make sure the caterpillar isn't cold - room temperature would be ok. No water dish as it might drown in it, the best would be to mist the cage every day, but make sure there's no mold growing. Good luck! ^^
