What are the differences between a 1972 Chevelle and a 1973 Chevelle?

Basically, EVERYTHING. VERY few parts interchange between the two. While the '70-'72 Chevelles share body styles and nearly ALL of the parts are interchangeable (albeit different because there are a lot of 1970 only parts) they share basically nothing with the '73. You can swap engines and transmissions between the two as well as the steering gear box, but that's just about it. Everything else is different.

How much does a Chevelle cost?

depends on what year your looking for and it's condition and drivetrain.

Will a Chevelle 12bolt rearend fit on a 1967 Camaro?

How much horsepower does a 1970 SS Chevelle have?

The SS, meant big block motor, in 70. There were several versions of the big block available, in that car. So, anywhere from 375, to a little over 500, depending on which engine you chose. One way to tell which big block a particular car came with, is to look at the factory tach. Whjere is the red line? 5500, would have been a lower performance motor. 7000, would have been your higher output, rat motors. Also, back then, technology for the automatic tranny's, was pretty non existant, so most of the "nastier" motors, required a manual trans, which, most Chevelles, even the SS's, had automatics. The build sheet on those cars, depending on which plant they were built at, was either under the rear seat, or, under the lower seat cushion, on the pass., side front.

Is a 1969 dodge charger better than a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle?

Neither. It's a matter of taste more than anything else. Both are beautiful cars. As far as performance is concerned, the Chevelle probably has an advantage. It's lighter and has a better suspension and brakes. The LS6 454 can run with a hemi, if not flat outrun it.... Especially with it being in the lighter car. You really can't go wrong with either one.

Did Chevy offer a 327 engine in the super sport Chevelle?

Yes, but in 1964 and 1965 ONLY. Starting in 1966 they were ALL big blocks until the very end of super sport production when ANY engine was optional for an SS.

Will a 85 camaro rear end fit in a 70 Chevelle Malibu?

Not without a LOT of modification. You need to get a rear end out of a '68-'72 GM A body for a direct bolt in. Anything else will require modification to properly fit.

What bolt size to mount bell housing to transmission for chevy 350?

The holes themselves are tapped with 3/8-16 threads. The bolt lengths vary depending on which transmission you have, anywhere between 1 1/4", all the way up to 2 1/2". Many bellhousings use bolts of different lengths as well, so that's the best answer I can give you without more specifics.

How do you change a heater core in a 1967 Chevelle?

How much does a 1971 Chevelle Malibu weigh?

Straight from the factory floor (no gas, oil, water) 3520 lbs.

In the real world:

Empty (no occupants)

350 ci engine

2 door hardtop

auto transmission, A/C

20 gallon gas tank (full of gas)

Around 3900 pounds. (lbs)

Add some for a bigger engine - maybe 150 lbs. for big block engines (396/402, 454.)

Add some for a 4 door sedan. Maybe 300 - 400 lbs.

Subtract some for straight 6 engines. maybe 50 - 100 lbs per engine size below 307.

Subtract some for a manual transmission (about 50 - 75 lbs.)

Subtract some for no A/C - about 100 - 150 lbs.

add about 200 - 300 pounds if it's a convertible.

And there you have it.

You installed a mini starter on your 70 Chevelle 350 350 it grinds first time then spins free second try what is wrong how do you fix?

Hi You need to shim outside bolt on starter, go to parts store and get starter shims. Might have to shim till it sounds right. The teeth on starter have to mesh in center of fly wheel or close.

Wil a quickchange rearend fit 1970 Chevelle?

Halibrand makes one that should fit (61" I think) but you'll have to change to a ladder bar type rear suspension and it will be noisy in a closed car! Consider getting the helical gearset to reduce noise to about half.
