What rear end gear ration is a 1966 Chevrolet El Camino?
Without taking the rear end apart there is no way of knowing exactly whar reatio you have. But you can get very close by doing the following. Put the car on jack-stands with both rear tires off the ground by an inch or so. Put a chalk mark on the lowest point on the tire. Put a mark on the ground in line with the mark on the tire. Crawl under the car and put a mark on the bottom of the drive-shaft. Have a friend slowly turn the tire one revolution while you count the nu;mber of times the drive-shaft rotates. The car must be in Neutral so the drive shaft can turn. You'll probably get three and a bit more revolutions. Three and a quarter would indicate 3.25 gears, three and a half 3.50 gears, etc. Not perfect, but close enough.

You will have to remove the oil pan and the rear main cap and then install a new seal.
You also need to make sure the PCV valve is working / positive crank case venalation.
Make sure when you get it apart that there is no groove cut into the crankshaft are it will not hold a seal.
If the crankshaft main bearings are worn, Then it may still leak oil from the seal.

Absolutely. You will need to either change it over to a carburetor or install the computer and wiring harness for the fuel injection, and change the fuel pump as well. But otherwise, it will bolt right in.

i replaced it on my el camino, there should be a black cap on the passerger side right in front off the windshield under the hood, take ot the screws and you might need something flat and you take it and shove it under a corner and pop it off, make sure you undo the hozes and stuff, then the heater core should be right under the back plastic plate, the all you have to do is pull out the heater core.

if it came stock with the 305 it should bolt right up, but im no expert Z-44) yes i have a 1985 el camino that originally had a 305 and swapped it for a 350 pretty easily. you can actually fit a 383 with minor changes (different motor mounts etc.)
