How long does chicken stay fresh out of the refrigerator?

Cooked chicken could be good up to 4 days. Raw chicken is best used within 1 or 2 days. You should store the chicken in the coldest part of the refrigerator for best shelf life or put it in freezer if not used within that time frame.

Thawed chicken should be cooked as soon as possible. If not using the chicken immediately, store in the refrigerator and use within 24 hours of thawing. Thaw frozen chicken using one of three methods: in the refrigerator; in a cold water bath, changing the water every 30 minutes; or in the microwave. If using one of the last two quick-thaw methods, cook the chicken immediately. NEVER thaw chicken at room temperature. USDA recommends 1-2 days of refrigerated storage (40°F).

Depending upon the packaging of the chicken, how it was handled in-transit, and the temperature in the refrigerator, the chicken could last longer. For example, some refrigerators have a special meat storage drawer where the temperature is just under 32°F which will allow more shelf life.

How can you make grilled chicken breast?

Everything you cook on the grill needs to be on high heat so you sear it and keep in the juices. If it catches fire it is too hot. Marinade is good for chicken breasts because of the lack of fat/flavor. A clean, hot grill will cook chicken perfectly. Don't turn it too often and use a little oil prior to putting it on the grill. Oil can be mixed in with things like BBQ sauce to keep it from burning.

How do you tone down the heat on hot wings?

There is nothing I know of to reduce the hotness on the wing itself after it is prepared, but keeping a cold glass of milk nearby will put out the fire after you eat some.

How do you cook a chicken an a crock pot?

Well, you can but I do not recommend it as the best way to cook it. So here goes...

First prepare the duck as if you were going to roast it. I recommend scoring the skin of the duck with a sharp knife to give the fat someplace to run off the duck.

(scoring means to cut the skin but not all the way through to the meat, otherwise the fat gets into the meat and it doesn't taste as good)

Next, make sure you have something in the bottom of the crock pot to keep the duck from sitting on the bottom. You don't want the duck sitting in the fat runoff. I recommend some chunked carrots or potatos. Then simply Crock it for about 6 to 7 hours.

This will not brown the duck but it will be cooked all the way through. If you want to brown the duck, remove the crock from the bottom part of the crock pot and put it in an oven under the broiler for about 3 to 5 minutes.

How long do you grill and boneless skinless chicken breast?

The answer depends on weather you use direct or indirect cooking. Direct heat grilling is the placement of the meat directly over the heat source and indirect heat grilling is the placement of the meat off to the side of the heat source. Direct grilling of boneless chicken thighs should take 15 to 20 minutes and grilling indirectly with the grill chamber temperature at 350 degrees should take 35 to 45 minutes. The time varies in accordance to the thickness of the chicken.

Baking. Frying is usually done in some type of fat, adding calories to the food, and if the oils get very hot, they can turn into carcinogens. Grilling gets things very hot and burns the edges of foods, possibly producing carcinogens. However, grease is free to drip away, thus making it healthier than frying in terms of fat.

Can you freeze a whole chicken after you roast it?

Good question because there are some things you should know.

Freezing a whole cooked chicken will not happen instantly. The hot or warm interior portions of the chicken will take longer to get do to a safe temperature. And when you thaw a whole frozen chicken you must do so in the refrigerator so you don't have the same temperature differential problem in the other direction.

The solution? Cut your roast chicken up into its constituent parts. That is, cut off the wings, the drumsticks, the thighs and the breasts and freeze those separately.

Then, when you want some chicken you can select the piece you want.

If you have to freeze an entire roast chicken be aware of the issues mentioned above. Refreezing is not recommended.

Which food contamination is usually associated with undercooked chicken?

Yes, among others. Salmonella bacteria can cause food poisoning. Symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps and sometimes vomiting and fever. Symptoms usually last for four to seven days.

It should be noted that eating cookie dough that has raw eggs in it and eating "over easy" eggs are a real risk.
