Milk really is a complete food, in that it contains many nutrients the human body needs to sustain itself. Milk is high in protein and has a good fat content.

Babies, of course, can survive on just milk for the entire first year of their life. Eventually, they will need greater caloric intake to sustain their growing bodies.

It depends what chocolate powder you're using. One that definiitely IS gluten-free is Nesquik, and one that is definitely NOT is Milo. However, you can just check the ingredients on the packet. Anything with wheat (apart from wheat glucose syrup), malt, barley, rye, or oats is out of bounds.

Everything is fine in moderation. The only thing I could think of that would possibly be "bad" for you is the chocolate being it has sugar. Chocolate also has its good benefits too. It's good for your heart. As long as your not excessively drinking it you should be fine. Or if giving it to children try cutting the chocolate amount in half. :)

However, chocolate milk has added sugar, so just like soda pop and many other beverages, that added sugar *can* lead to obesity. Obesity, in turn, puts you at higher risk for Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

... But this definitely does NOT mean that chocolate milk causes cancer, or any of those other things. People just are linking it to those things because it has more sugar in it than regular milk. If you look at the ingredients on the back of milk and chocolate milk it will usually say how much protein per cut each has. From the brands I have looked at, it has been 9 grams per cup, and that's for both chocolate and regular milk. Even if you come across a brand with more or less protein it will be a minimal difference so it's best you stick with regular milk because the sugar content is obviously lower. If you're hurting for protein that much then look to other food sources as well.

3/4 of a cup of sugar

3 tablespoons of all purpose flour

3 tablespoons of baking cocoa

4 cups of milk

10 popsicle molds of plastic cups and popsicle sticks

In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa and flour. Gradually stir in milk until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.

Pour 1/4 into each mold or plastic cup and top with holders or insert popsicle sticks. freeze until set.
