I just spent a whole day on this and only after i got the dang thing opened did i realize there was an easier way. Whether or not you will be able to utilize this easier way depend on whether or not you still have access to the cable that should be attached to the regular release lever. In mine the cable had snapped off the lever, so i thought that pulling on it with a vise grip should accomplish the same task but or some reason it did not, so try that first. If that doesn't work, i hope you have been doing your yoga b/c its really going to help you with the next step. Withe the top fully up, remove the black liner behind the back seats (snaps are located at the base of the roof) then move the insulation and pull the cardboard cover up. This should reveal the back of the trunk as well as your convertible top motor and your spare tire. Remove the spare tire by reaching under it and unscrewing the retaining nut. Once the spare is out now its time to get flexible. crawl int o the trunk head first, depending on your height and size you should be able to get in about to your hips. You should bring a small flashlight so that you can locate the latch assembly and the inside of the trunk lid. Now, earlier if you were able to get a wrench on the cable but it wasn't working you might have an easy fix. On the drivers side of the latch assembly (your right from this perspective) fell for a small metal lever sticking out from the plastic cover, this is the lockout switch, it disables the regular trunk release in case you leave the top down but still want he trunk secure. If you can flick it down it means it was engaged and now the cable should work. If it doesn't work at first try messing with it a bit until it does. If this doe not work you have to get a bit more intense. With a 13 mm socket wrench remove the bolts of the upper part of the latch assembly. You may also need to remove the plastic cover if you cant get access to the bolts (it is secured with 2 Phillips screws. This is what i did after the bolts are out the lid should open with minimal force. Remove the latch assembly from the lower cleat by turning the cam that the key would normally turn then bolt the assembly back onto the trunk lid and try to figure out why the heck it didn't work in the first place. I had to tie a cable to the aforementioned cam which would usually be controlled by the key and run it up over the back seat so now to pop the trunk i pull the wire from the back seat. Hope this helps.

Make sure the timing belt is actually moving. The teeth can strip off an old belt with out it breaking.

The engine computer is the voltage regulator.

The sensor in the distributor is the crankshaft position sensor.

It is screwed into the exhaust manifold on the back of the engine.

It is a two wire sensor, very near where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine.

There is a black rectangular box in the engine compartment, drivers side. On the underside of the cover is a diagram of all relays and fuses that will show you which is which.

I know of some Daytonas that were converted to Rear Wheel Drive, the same principles should apply to the LeBaron. As I recall, Direct Connection used to sell a rear wheel drive kit to get you started.

you have to remove everything on the side of the motor.the ac unit, motor mount, pulleys alternator, power steering pump,and three timing covers,it is run off of the timing belt inside. it is an day job taking it off for the first time and another day putting back together.

V6, it is behind the motor mount on the front of the block.

Four cylinder, below the exhaust manifold on the rear of the engine.

Get a bottle/can of final polish rubbing compound. If you have access to a car buffer put the polish on the lens and buff it out. It will look like new and will last for a little while then just do it again as it clouds up due to the age/ weather conditions. You can buff by hand but it is harder and more time consuming. Also consider replacing the headlight unit.. theres loads for sale on EBAY You can buy a headlight reatoration kit, you can go to your local Wal-Mart Supercenter Tire and Lube Express which offers a headlight restoration service for $40.00 that includes bot headlights, or try to find 2 used lenses in a junkyard.

The bolt holding the pulley to the tensioner arm is left hand thread. The nut holding the tensioner to the engine is right hand thread.

The fuse box is located behind the lower dash panel on the drivers side.. also the relay board is located attached to the bulkhead to the left and upbehind the fuse box

Does the surrounding fabric require replacement? If your just replacing the glass you may be able to un-zip it and swap it.

Spend $15 bucks or so for a haynes manual from the local autoparts shop.. your gonna need it.. :)

It should be enough to push it manually. It is very hard to do on your own though. Two people can easily close it by pushing each from one side. Don't push too hard though, since the fluid will have to move slowly from one side of the motor to the other. Don't worry though, the motor is designed for that to happen. If you've tried all and still it doesn't close, then your gonna have to undo the hydraulic line from the pump which is located on the upper right of the trunk..

In my 1991 lebaron convertible the front door speaker grilles just pop off( no need yo unscrew door) on the back u take a Phillips head and unscrew the 2 screws and it comes out from the back (located under the black fabric with top down
