i just put a new computer in my 2002 sebring and now I am having a problem starting the car

It is inside the transmission, on the valve body, it is called a TRS (transmission range sensor).

The engine is either a four or six cylinder

With a scan tool.

Your battery went dead sometime and it messed up the computer. Disconnect the ground for 5 or more minutes. Reconnect and it should work. Please see the related question below.

Compass Calibration

The Automatic Compass Calibration feature eliminates

the need for the operator intervention under normal

conditions. If the CAL indicator is lit, the compass needs

to be calibrated. A good calibration requires a level

surface and an environment free of large metal objects

such as large buildings, bridges, underground cables,

railroad tracks, etc.

Manual Compass Calibration

Compass calibration can also be requested. To manually

calibrate the compass, use the STEP button to step to the

compass/ temperature display and then hold down both

the STEP and US/M buttons simultaneously until the

CAL symbol is displayed. Release the buttons once the

CAL symbol appears. Manual compass calibration has

been initiated at this point. Drive the vehicle in circles in

an area free from large metal objects until the CAL

symbol is extinguished.

When the CAL indicator goes off, the compass is calibrated

and should display correct headings. Verify

proper calibration by checking North (N), South (S), East

(E), and West (W). If the compass does not appear

accurate, repeat the calibration procedure in another area.

Compass Variance

Variance is the difference between magnetic North and

geographic North. For proper compass function, the

correct variance zone must be set.

Setting the Compass Variance

Refer to the variance map for the correct compass variance

zone. To check the variance zone, the ignition must

be on and the compass / temperature displayed. Hold

down both the US / M and STEP buttons simultaneously

until the VAR symbol is lit and then immediately release

both buttons. The current variance zone will now be

displayed. To change the zone, press the STEP button

until the correct zone is displayed. Wait for about 5

seconds. The trip computer will store this variance in

memory and the compass will resume normal operation.

The regulator is part of the engine computer. To replace the engine computer a scan tool is required to program the vin, and chip key info if equipped.

1. Remove the center "bezel" by removing two screws on the bottom. The bezel will now snap out when pulled out.

2. Remove the radio. The radio is held in by 8 screws. Disconnect from antenna and wiring harness.

3. The climate control unit is now exposed. Remove the four screws holding it in the bracket.

4. Remove the air control door cables (two of them). Depress the clips while pushing the eye hole up. This is very tricky and tale patience.

5. Disconnect the wire connectors.

6. The units should now be ready to remove.

7. Installation is much simpler. Reverse steps 6 to 1.

Okay. First, breathe deep because you will get aggravated, I know I was. Facing the vehicle from the front, find the nut on the top right of the air filter housing and remove it COMPLETELY. Next, locate and LOOSEN the hose clamp screw on the short piece of hose going from the rear of the filter housing to the intake on the engine. Gently slide the hose off of the intake. Now squeeze the two tabs on either side of the hose section toward each other and separate it from the filter housing. Do not disconnect the sensors attached to the hose as you only need to move the hose a little bit toward the windshield/firewall for extra room. On the left side of the filter housing, lift off the wire connection clipped there. Again, no need to disconnect, just leave it hanging. Now lift the housing from the right side off of the bolt where you removed the nut. The only other thing holding it in place are two pins underneath on the right side so lift about an inch to clear them. Finally, push housing toward the windshield/firewall and then rotate the end closest to the bumper up and out bringing the filter out with it. Remove filter, clean out the housing, insert new filter, and have fun reinstalling in reverse order. Make sure to properly seat the hose back onto the intake or it could allow dirt to enter the engine. Yippee!!!!!

The trick is to remove the air filter housing entirely from the engine compartment. Then it's simple to remove the air filter cylinder and replace. When the housing is out you can dump or blow out any debris. Install the new air filter on the hose and clip into housing. Then return housing making sure you line it up with the two bottom pins and put the nut back on. Tighten the hose clamp back on the intake and you're done. This job takes about 10-minutes. If you have Jiffy Lube or some other quick oil change place replace this air filter, then check to ensure that the wiring harness and hoses are reattached properly. Sometimes they do an poor job.

The factory alarm can not be disabled. It can only be reset by unlocking the doors with the key or use the remote.
