How does smoking affect the body?

When you inhale smoke, you get a smoke residue that coats your lungs and makes it harder to breathe; eventually this can cause emphysema and/or lung cancer. In general, smoking is very bad for your health. Don't do it.
The chemicals from the cigarettes get into your lungs and cause tar to build up. You get addicted to nicotine and your teeth turn yellow.

The long-term damage to lung tissue (including emphysema) and the risk of various forms of cancer, should be sufficient reasons for a decision not to smoke.

No one knows who said it first, but...

Thomas R. Marshall was Woodrow Wilson's vice president. He was presiding over a Senate session where Joseph Bristow, Republican of Kansas, was delivering a speech on "what the country needs." Does Will Smith smoke cigars?

I believe he actually does smoke cigars. Most classy celebs and important political figures do. However in his song, "Gettin' Jiggy With It," there is this lyric:

"ciga-cigar right from Cuba-Cuba

I just bite it. it's for the look, I don't light it."

But considering myself one of Will Smith's biggest fans, I'm almost positive he does smoke them occasionally.

Is Clipper cigars a good substitute for cigarettes or is it unhealthy?

When you burn tobacco leaves and inhale the combustion products, it's

unhealthy. Your lungs don't know and don't care what the shape and size

of the tobacco-leaf bundle was before it burned. They're too busy trying

to breathe through the poison and keep you alive.

Who said what this country needs is a good ten-cent cigar?

Thomas Riley Marshall, Vice President under Woodrow Wilson.

'During the eight years of his Vice-Presidency in the two Wilson administrations, and as President of the Senate, he had many an opportunity to demonstrate his ready, kindly wit. Once the Senate was indulging itself with an endless, tiresome symposium of oratory as to the welfare of the nation. Senator after senator got up, delivered himself of his views as to what would cure the ills of the body politic. Mr. Marshall was patience itself. But one Senator, more verbose than any of his colleagues, went on and one and one. Finally Mr. Marshall leaned over to the Secretary of the Senate and said in a voice which must have reached the loquacious speaker: "What this country really needs is a good five-cent cigar!"'

Was the child from Tropic Thunder really smoking the cigar?

In "Tropic Thunder," the child actor who plays the character "Robby" is not actually smoking a cigar. The filmmakers used special effects and props to create the appearance of smoking without having the child actually inhale tobacco. This approach is common in the film industry to ensure the safety and well-being of young actors while still conveying a specific scene or character trait.

Is Djarum kretek sold in America?

Yes. Several lines of Djarum clove cigarettes ('kreteks') are sold in Canada and many states in the U.S. (The sale of Clove cigarettes is illegal in some states, including Utah and parts of New Mexico, for example.)
