Why themal conductivity of gas is low?

Thermal conductivity in a substance relies on the collisions of the molecules within the substance to impart the vibrational, rotational and/or kinetic energy of one molecule to another molecule. Because the molecules in a gas are (usually) much more widely spaced than in a liquid or solid, the collisions are less frequent and it takes longer for the energy to propagate through the volume occupied by the gas. There is also the matter that because there are fewer molecules in a given volume of gas - compared to if a liquid of solid were occupying the space - there are fewer molecules impacting the heat source and the heat sink - consequently a gas is slower to pick up the heat energy from the source and transfer it to the sink. A third factor is that because gases are less dense than liquids or solids, they have a much lower heat capacity than those denser phases. The lower heat capacity acts somewhat to throttle the rate at which heat can be transferred.

What grade is 3500 psi concrete?

Concrete with a compressive strength of 3500 psi is typically classified as a Grade 25 concrete, according to the American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards. This strength is commonly used for residential applications, such as driveways, sidewalks, and foundations. It provides a good balance of strength and workability for various construction projects.

Why is Sheila Bridges bald?

The following is from an interview with Sheila Bridges that appears on www.newyorksocialdiary.com "It’s pretty common knowledge that I have lost my hair in the last two years. I have alopecia, which I was diagnosed with, I guess, like at 40. It was really out of the blue. I started getting treated for it but at some point it was clear that it was just going to go. There were a lot of things that were difficult about it but at that time I was still taping my final season of my television show, so I was in front of the camera every day and everybody was whispering. No one really wanted to talk about it in a public way. I always tell everybody, going bald is much harder than being bald. For me, when I shaved what was left of my hair, it was empowering. Wigs are awful. For me, it was just like wearing this scratchy, itchy, hot thing on my head. I just felt that there was something, for me, and I don’t mean this to anyone who has to wear a wig for whatever reason, but for me there was something that just always felt inauthentic and fraudulent, like somehow I was trying to hide something."

How will you explain Marshall stability test for asphalt premix?

Marshall stability test is a three phase exam designed to determine the strength of an asphalt cylinder.

At the first step, a 1kg asphalt premix is made into 10cm diameter cylinder using a hammer compactor. Usually three cylinders are made.

The hammer hits the cylinders 50 or 75 times (depending on the type of the road, e.g. highway, parking, etc) on each side, from a set height.

Then, the cylinder is weighted in water and air, then kept in 60C water for 30 minutes.

At the third step the cylinders are broken to see at under what weight they give out. The number is multiplied by the correlation factor, derived from the data gathered in step 2.

This test is used only to check the strength of asphalt cylinder cores, and not to determine other asphalt properties like friction or rejuvenation of thin coatings.

What is stepped footing?

Stepped footing is a type of foundation used in construction, characterized by its tiered or stepped design. This method is employed to provide stability on sloped or uneven terrain, effectively distributing the load of the structure while preventing soil erosion. The steps create a larger base area that helps resist lateral forces and enhances structural integrity. Overall, stepped footing is a practical solution for building on challenging landscapes.

What is channel consistency?
