If it's a desktop PC, erasing the cmos memory will usually clear it. Turn the power off, remove the cover. There should be a battery, these days they use a large silver disc watch battery type. Near it should be three pins with a linker on two of them. Move it to the other side, so the middle pin is linked to the other pin. Leave it there for a few seconds and then put it back in it's original position. Replace the covers and boot up. You will then have to reset your BIOS options etc.. On Laptops, they all most always write the password to EEROM or flash memory, which don't need a battery. Unfortunately, sometimes the only way to clear these, is to remove the chip and use a programmer to load it with the latest BIOS from the manufacturer or replace it with a new one. Dell computers have a master password which is unique to each computer. That password can be obtained from Dell customer service.

Also known as the "FSB", connects the memory and all of the other devices on your motherboard to the CPU (processor). You can think of it like a highway that carries the data around "Motherboard City". The speed of the FSB is expressed as a frequency (it's clock speed) in MHz (MegaHertz). One MHz is one million cycles per second. The FSB also has a "width", expressed in bits, such as 16 or 32 bit etc.. The wider it is, the more data can be transferred in one clock cycle. So, for example, a motherboard featuring "266 FSB" means that it's FSB runs at 266MHz and is usually 32 Bits wide. Although with "true" 64 Bit processors becoming widely available, the bit width can be 64 bits wide.

A Plug and Play device is defined as any device which Windows supports natively with pre-installed device drivers. Plug and Play is a standard that Microsoft created with the release of Windows 95, and is still used in modern versions of Windows.

hardware is a collection term . All hardware components may be connected mechanically , electrically with each other . It includes the cables connector , power supply units and peripherals devices Such as:-

keyboard

Mouse

Monitor

Printer Audio speakers etc

Think of it as a temporary space or "Blackboard" or "workspace" for your CPU.

Like the top of your desk. Limited amounts of things can be worked on at the same time but the access is much faster for things in "Ram" or on the top of your desk. The desk drawers or file cabinets might be a hard drive or disk drive. You can still get stuff from them but slower. But they hold a lot more.

A NIC or Network Interface Card/Connection.

Your computer should have a LAN interface. You can identify it with RJ45 socket (has 8 pin connector slightly bigger than a telephone socket). If it is there already ensure than the LAN port is enabled in operating system. This port need to be connected to a working LAN network socket which comes through a switch/hub/router.

Go to a computer accessories shop and look for the green USB to PS2 Mouse adapter. Or you can buy it online.

A USB to Serial Port adapter does not, to my knowledge, exist. So please verify if you want a PS/2 (small, round connector) or Serial Port (long, flat connection with many pins)

That is a relative judgement. The motherboard is one of the more expensive parts of a computer. On the other hand, it's cheaper than a whole new computer. Also, they vary in price, depending on the processor and the quality and features of the board. Prices (US, early 2011) range from $70 to $300 (not including processor and memory).
