Television technology is suffering from some confusing terms at present.

LCD televisions use a light behind the liquid crystal panel. The light has been a cold cathode device but recently, LEDs have been used as an alternative. Both use the same LCD imaging technology.

A true LED television uses LEDs to generate red, green and blue light for every pixel. The technology has been with us for many years and is used extensively in large outdoor displays for concerts and stadia for example. Very recently, organic LEDs (OLEDs) have been used to create domestic sized displays. They offer the same high contrast capability of the larger displays and are a simpler construction than LCD models. The use of directly driven LEDs also allows a much faster update rate than LCD so they overcome any issues of image lag or smearing that can sometimes be noticed with LCD or plasma displays.

The disadvantage is the current price. In 2012, OLED televisions are far more expensive than other technologies but expect the price to fall dramatically in the coming year or two as production volumes increase.

LED is a thinner/slick modern looking tv. It uses LED lights or light emitting diodes. LED TV's are able to produce a higher picture quality then the stander LCD TV. This is because of higher contrast ratios. LED TV's can show truer blacks and brighter whites.

CRT stands for "cathode ray tube" and they are a special kind of vaccuum tube that displays the image in old, standard TVs. LCD stands for "liquid crystal display" and it is a thin, flat electronic display that uses light-modulating properties of liquid crystals in order to give off the image.

Each type of monitor is different. If there is a menu button on it, or a symbol that looks like a sheet of paper with writing on it, push it. It should give you a menu and someplace there is an option to adjust the size of the screen and the centering.

Primary memory is that which is directly connected to the motherboard for the CPU to process, meaning your RAM modules. Secondary memory is located on the hard drive in a virtual memory (called a page file or swap file) when the RAM modules have no more room to store data that is still running, but still needs to recall some as soon as it can swap out what processes have the higher priority.

When the RAM and page file are full, you will notice a lag in computer performance as it struggles to process so much data at one time. If it exceeds the limits of your memory and processor, the system may crash. A fixed large swap file and more memory makes the CPU work less and a better, faster CPU will keep the memory demands lower. This is why more memory and a faster CPU is needed for more complex data processing. To reduce processing even further, a dedicated graphics card with it's own memory and built in CPU that handles the graphic processing allows for the RAM and CPU to work much less, making the computer much more faster.

It sounds like the cable has become loose. Try plugging it back in. If that doesn't help, then the cable itself may have become faulty, it may need to be replaced. Another possibility is the video card may have worn out and needs to be replaced. Another possibilty is that a button on the monitor may have been accidently pressed.

The liquid crystal displays allows a person to view images, photos, data, on their monitors. It also lets us see light, colors, movement and videos and computer games. You simply would be looking at a black screen if it weren't for the monitor technologies. This is what PC monitors do for us.

The sensors in your computer can tell if you are not using it so after a certain amount of time your computer goes into energy saving mode and black is the least energy consuming colour. If you are talking about a laptop, they do the same thing except they only create a shadow like colour over the screen.

You cannot enlarge the screen, you can magnify the images on it. You can change the resolution of the screen or magnify items depending on the software you have installed.

In addition to changing the resolution and magnifying individual items inside individual programs, there are two other, global, ways to enlarge screen images on a laptop. First, with software. This is built in into the Windows machines, look for Microsoft Screen Magnifier on your Windows 7 computer for example.

Second, you can use a monitor magnifier or laptop screen magnifier which is a large Fresnel lens that will optically magnify the screen. You can read more about this type of laptop screen magnifier in related links, below.
