What does degauss do for your computer?

It doesn't do anything for the actual computer, it just works on the monitor screen. It's the electronic version of turning an Etch-a-Sketch upside down and shaking it. My guess is you have a pretty old monitor if it has the degauss button.

What is different between SVGA monitor XGA monitor SXGA monitor and UXGA monitor?

The main difference is in the screen resolution (that is, the number of pixels on the screen). The more pixels you have, the more detail the monitor can display. Some standard formats and the number of pixels (width x height) are: VGA: 640 x 480

SVGA: 800 x 600

XGA: 1024 x 768

SXGA: 1280 x 1024

SXGA+: 1400 x 1050

UXGA: 1600 x 1200

QXGA: 2048 x 1536 Another minor difference is the "aspect ratio" which is the ratio of width to height of the screen. Most standard formats have an aspect ratio of 4 to 3, except for SXGA which has a ratio of 5 to 4. Wide screen formats are prefixed by a "W" and have an aspect ratio of 16 to 10 or 16 to 9. For example: WSXGA: 1440 x 900

WSXGA+: 1680 x 1050

WUXGA: 1920 x 1200

What is the Evaporative system monitor?

The EVAP system monitor checks for fuel vapor leaks by performing either a pressure or vacuum test on the fuel system. For 1996 through 1999 vehicles, the federal standard allows leaks up to the equivalent of a hole .040 inches in diameter in a fuel vapor hose or filler cap. For 2000 and newer vehicles, the leakage rate has been reduced to the equivalent of a .020 in. diameter hole, which is almost invisible to the naked eye but can be detected by the OBD II system. Finding these kinds of leaks can be very challenging. According to one expert, you can find a .040 in. leak with an ultrasonic leak detector but not a .020 in. leak. For such a small leak, you need a smoke or dye-type detector.

Is monitor size measured diagonally from corner to corner?

Every screen I have ever heard of is measured from corner to corner. Televisions, LCDs, computer monitors, everything I know of. Always has been. Also, there is a difference is screen size and VIEWABLE screen. For example, if you have a 23" monitor, it may only be 21" viewable. Manufacturers market the total screen size, which is more than the viewable size.
