How do you fix a laptop screen that is dark but you can still see very faintly the home screen?

To state the obvious, make sure the brightness is turned up. This is usually a function key on the keyboard (the icon is probably shaped like a sun). If this doesn't accomplish anything, then the backlight on the LCD may be damaged, or else there could be a problem with the inverter. (I had a very similar problem myself: the screen would appear incredibly dark when I turned it on/woke it up, and then openning and shutting it a bit or jiggling sometimes helped, at least for a while - this is NOT a solution, it's merely a quick fix, and it only works so many times.) The inverter is more likely to be the cause: the backlight is a CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) and such last longer than the inverter. You can purchase an inverter or backlight relatively cheaply on the internet - I would recommend checking the related links I've provided, they have more information on the possible problems and fixes, as well as instructions on how to replace the inverter or backlight.

What is the pixel of colour monitor?

An LCD that shows colors will have three subpixels with red, green, and blue subfilters. Using varying voltage each color of pixel--red, green, or blue--can vary by up to 256 shades. This allows a variety of 16.8 million colors since the total variation in possibilities is reflected by multiplying 256 red x 256 green x256 blue.

What part of the computer uses the refresh rate to measure performance?

Both the monitor and the video card's performance are tested by the refresh rate.

What do the terms refresh rate and interlace and aspect ratio explain?

image properties of the monitor

Refresh Rate means how many times the monitor images is refreshed

Represented by Hertz which means times per second, 60 Hertz means 60 times a second, 65 means 65 times a second, 75 is 75 times a second etc.

Interlacing: one of two common display modes

(the other being progressive scan) interlacing changes every other line of pixels in an image at once resulting in a new frame every 1/25of a second (25 fps) and a half frame every 1/50 of a second

(progressive scan display is better for gaming)

Aspect Ratio: means the shape of the screen.

  • 4:3 is a normal shape, best with 800x600 resolution or other 4:3 ratio(standard) resolutions.
  • 16:9 is a rectangular shape, best with 1280x1152 or other 16:9 ratio (widescreen) resolutions.

How can you get a faster modem because you have dial-up and the highest speed you have seen it go is 28.8 kbps yea really slow so how?

It may not be so much the modem as the quality of the phone connection. What does the modem documentation indicate the speed to be? If it's a 56kb modem, and it's working, even at that slower speed, it's probably not a problem with the modem. Generally they either work or they don't.

What Video card should you use for a 32 inch display?

like i said in a previous post, it all depends on your computer and what it can handle, now the difference between yours an the other post is your asking for a display, it all depends if you want to run it on hdmi, s-video, or vga.. most video cards have either hdmi or s-video.. sadly even your high end cards come with s-video. but they all come with a vga hook up, if your display has vga then u can use a dual male end vga cord, but u have to remember still your card has to be strong enough to handle a decent frame rate, if its a tv that is, if its a monitor it shouldn't matter either way.

Where can one buy a Gateway Monitor?

What are two advantages of setting an LCD monitor on native resolution?

The main advantage is that you won't lose image quality. If you use a different resolution, the monitor has to convert it to the native resolution. That isn't too bad if the aspect ratio is the same and the selected resolution can be evenly converted. But if it is not, the image will be distorted. If you display at less than the native resolution, the monitor will have to choose to either convert to its native resolution, and distort the image and lose quality in places, or it just won't fill the screen and you end up with a small image that won't fill the screen.

So the advantages are that you will get to keep your aspect ratio, the image properly fills the screen, and you avoid having a distorted image that loses pixels in places.

How do you fix your computer screen when there is about 1 inch or less of black space on the ends where the screen should be stretched out more?

How do you set up vga to rca cable so your latop plays your tv?

If you have a VGA to RCA cable it probably isn't going to work - what you really need is a VGA to RCA converter - these have an active chip built in that will make this conversion. The only way a conversion would work is if you have a special port on your computer that does output TV out (these are almost unheard of).
