If you do a little research you will find numerous forums that discuss the issue of virus infections occurring at deviantart. Even their own forums have quite a few posts on the subject. You don't have to actually click anything or "be stupid" to get an infection (although there are the typical click the link style infections on deviantart, but those are to be expected at most social networking type sites) and it seems to be popular belief the problem lies in the advertising containing malicious codes/spyware.

Wait for 10 seconds and replace it. When you re-start the PC the BIOS will re-build itself without the virus.

The first part is embedded in a normal web page HTML file when you look at a web page it then download's pup.exe and makes a copy with a random file name in media player.

even after healing with AVG on reboot the copy restores pup.exe and the circle goes on.

If you have this one when you try to open media player you get the virus warning

Actually, a good friend had exactly the same problem. We discovered that if you don't empty the quarantine area in AVG after you have run it, sometimes it keeps on saying that the virus or Trojan is still there.

The tip about turning off the RESTORE feature is absolutely true. If you have Windows ME or 98, it's harder to do that but it still needs to be done.

No, it does not. I have been on imvu for years and not a virus yet. If you don't belive me then try to get an avg. It is virus protection. It cost about 40 bucks at Wal-mart. If theres a website that your worried about it should be MEEZ. I went on the link of that site and my comp got 364 viruses on my hard drive and 7 viruses in my files. But good thing I know how to delete them.

You maybe have turned on the power saving plan in the power option menu, making your processor owrk slower. Put it back to normal:

I would check and see if it were a heating issue, make sure your CPU fan is running and that the heatsink is free of dust. Other than that, i'd check the system log and see if it reports any problems. Could also be caused by a bad power supply, if you have another one you could try switching that and see if it helps.
