DirecTV does and has far more bandwidth to add HD channels. (remember DirecTV is transmitting local stations for like 50 markets in the US, at 4 per city, that alone is 200 channels they have up and going so can they count that?). They can put up more satellites, but Cable is always limited by the bandwidth of the coax cable. Comcast claims they have more "HD programming" because they include their OnDemand HD content, most of which is crap. But because they have 15 or so HD channels (including locals here) and have 285 crappy OnDemand HD programs (including PPV) they claim this absurd number of "HD Programming". DirecTV doesn't claim the most "HD programming", they claim the most "HD Channels". Also, for like $104 a month you can have every channel they have except PPV and their DVR service. How much is it for Comcast to have all their premiums except PPV? DirecTV has their prices on their website. Comcast doesn't and wants to "talk" before they disclose their rates and fees, and equipment rental. So take your pick, more HD content available to you at one given time, or actual HD channels such as TNTHD and UniversalHD (you can get HD lineup printouts from your cable co, and DirecTV and compare for yourself). DishNet is an up and comer though. They have been slow to get going on HD content, but I think they will be right in the mix or could be better. What I did to program. Hit "tv" and then hold down "code search" until it turns the light on. Then hit the on/off button until it turns off the tv......it took at least 20 times for me. Then hold down the "tv" button until it starts blinking. Then hit "ok". Mine then worked! *NOTE* Sometimes it takes more or less than 20 times. i hit mine about 35 before it finally turned my tv off, but in another room it only took about 13 tries. so don't get discouraged and keep trying!

I don't know if this is an issue anymore, but... If there are not enough tickets sold for a game, the team will not allow the game to be shown on TV, in the local market only. When this happens, the only way for local fans to see the game is to go to the stadium. Of course, by that point, it's too late for the fans to get to the stadium before kickoff, tipoff, first pitch, etc., so they just have to miss the game. So it really doesn't help ticket sales for the game in question. And it seriously hurts TV revenue. So, in the short run, this is a bad deal for the team. But, in the long run, fans will realize that they won't get to see the game on TV if there are not enough tickets purchased. So, next week, there's a sellout. At least in theory.

If a person is found indulging in theft of service then he can be penalized both civilly and criminally under the U.S. Federal Cable Act. The Federal Cable Act supercedes state and local acts and laws in this matter. This act provides protection for the cable companies against any individual who accesses, receives, or transmits any cable system service without the permission to do so. Unauthorized interception or receipt of cable system services includes any and all data, text, audio, and visual services provided by the cable network. This also includes all data transfer to or from a cable customer who has an interactive cable system. Manufacturers, suppliers, as well as separate consumers come under the purview of this act. If a person is found guilty of theft of service, then the concerned cable company can file a civil and criminal case against him. If these violations were proved to be "just for fun" or for "free" cable relay, the penalty might be less, but if they were for transmission for financial gain, then the civil penalty could go up to $50,000. If criminal intent can be proved, this attracts a fine of over $100,000 and in some cases a prison term also. So the next time someone tries to offer you free cable television, please steer clear of them and get cable television or satellite television by paying for it.
