If you do it yourself: about $60-$75... If you go to a shop, anywhere from $200 to upwards of $500. 1990 dodge B250 van engine bogs when gas pedal is pressed more than half way picks up speed when pedal is slowly let up. New fuel fliter just put in.?

I don't have an answer to your question, and I found your question while looking for information on my 1990 Dodge Ram conversion van. My van is on a D250 Chasis, but probably has the same engine as the B250. My van does the same thing. I've taken it to many mechanics, including a Dodge Dealership and they could never fix the problem. A friend told me today who is a mechanic that it could the the fuel pump, which I belive is located in the fuel tank. I'm overseas right now and cannot check it out, but plan on running a few checks on it when I go home. Have you experienced any electrical problems with your van? Darrell : Well i also have a 1992 dodge b250 van that does that same exact thing does anyone know what it is i have it at the shop right now so if i hear or what it is i will say but they tell me they dont know. plus my fuel pump u can hear plain as day and i dont know why. : thanks for reading : Jared My '94 B250 had the exact same problem. Definitely the fuel pump, or "fuel sending unit" as they call it. I went through a series of expensive and unsuccessful repairs before it was finally determined that was the problem. It's an expensive repair because the unit is inside the gas tank and the tank has to be dropped to get at it. I had the same problem. My fix was a bad ignition coil.

When it rains your 1999 dodge van won't start?

If a vehicle won't start when it rains or is very wet, it is a clear sign that the ignition wire insulation is old and tired. As a test, you can spray the wires and distributor with silicone spray or WD40. These drive off the water and the engine should start. If I spray wd40 on how long do I wait before I try to start the vehicle

Where is the fuel filter located on a Dodge Dakota?

That depends on the model year, engine type, and engine displacement.

Pre 1993 carbureted models use an inline filter located in locations as follows:

  • On 4 cylinder carbureted engines, the fuel filter (and incorporated reservoir), is located adjacent to the carburetor.
  • On V6 carbureted engines, the fuel filter is located on the front, passenger corner of the engine, next to the oil sump and almost directly below the fuel pump. Follow the fuel lines to it.

Pre 1993 fuel injected models use an inline fuel filter located on the driver's side framerail, under the truck box.

1994 and later, fuel injected models, use a fuel filter that is integerated with the fuel pump module inside the fuel tank. To replace the filter, the entire fuel pump module must be replaced. This requires the removal of either the fuel tank, or the truck box. Either method is about the same amount of work.

How do you flush sealant from the engine?

I dont think you can flush sealent from the engine unless its disasembled and possibly hot tanked. The sealent is going to be hard to break down without drastic measures in most cases. Hot tanking the engine uses either a type of corosive chemical or it uses very hot water and soap. The chemical hot tank is becoming less comon because the chemicals are dangerous and almost not worth using because of cost. The block is the most important because you dont want any oil ports blocked or any new parts are going to end up wearing out without the oil lubricating the bearings. Otherwise be carefull when using sealent and clean all excess with a rag or towel

How do you change the oil pump on a full size Dodge van ram 350 with a V8 engine?

You'll need to disconnect the motor mounts, lift the engine about 6 inches, remove the pan (after you remove the oil would be best) then the oil pump will be visible. Be aware however that if you have low oil pressure it's probably not a problem with the oil pump. You could pull a bearing cap and look at the surface. If the bearing material (babbit) is worn off, you probably need an engine rebuild to solve your problem. Just a suggestion, take it for what it's worth; before pulling the engine apart try changing to a heavier grade oil. If you've been using 5W15, change to a 10W30 or even a 15W40. If the bearings are worn but not totally gone you will be able to get a lot more life out of the engine. The recommended oil is great for a new engine but once it's been around the block a few times stuff starts to wear out. Using a heavier grade oil can help you get some more miles out of it. BTW, if that solves your problem, there is nothing wrong with your oil pump. If you don't want to change your oil right now you could try a little STP or other oil thickener to see if that helps. The principle is the same.
