Why is no power getting to the coil on an 1989 Dodge Van?

I don't know if there is a fusable link! This is what I did. I lifted the glove box out and next to the fusebox is a flat black box (3" x 5" x 1 "), probably the electronic ignition. I unplugged it and replaced it. Further I replaced the relays (3 of them under the hood). one is located directly beside the smec computer, one is a metal relay in the middle of the firewall and the other is in between the brake booster and the batterie. I tried it again and it works. the other way is, run a wire from the batterie to the pos side of the coil (to supply power). pull one of the sparkplug wire of and stick another sparkplug in it and lay it on top of the valve cover. Crank the motor over and see if the sparkplug sparks (this is to check your coil working properly!)
If the rotors on your '02 Liberty are very difficult to remove should the axel bolt come off also?

I don't know specifically about your Liberty, but rotors are often hard to remove and usually have several useless-looking threaded holes drilled in them on the outer face near the hub. The purpose of the holes is that you can thread properly sized bolts into them and then turn the bolts to "pop off" the rotor. So you might look for those.

I answered my own question by accident. The information I had read said that it's located at the right side of the engine. More accurately, it's located on the right side of the throttle body.

Factor(s):
1- "Possible" bad fuel indicator/gauge/gage.
2- "Possible" break in the fuel signal wiring between the indicator and the sending unit.
3- Possible" defective sending unit located inside the fuel tank ( normally, fuel pump and sending unit are into single unit assembly).
4- Or, YOU thought you filled the tank but it's actually empty?! -Just kidding!

I know you are probably asking this question because of gas mileage concerns. A bit of info for you. Some 6 cylinders, in the right application, get better gas mileage than a struggling, underpowered 4 cyl.. Case in Point.

There are no breaker points in a Dodge vehicle that new. That vehicle has electronic ignition. If the distributor has been changed you must use the spec that corresponds to the vehicle the distributor originally came from. Probably 0.014-0.019 inch.
Please note: the 318 is an engine, not a motor.

There is a panel in front of dash ,remove screws underneath open drivers side door another one there ,open glove box another one there. Now just pull off towards you carefully .That will expose the radio screws and wiring once you remove its screws. You can buy a after market wiring harness to plug into your existing harness otherwise just splice into the wiring checking for power with test light.One power comes on only when egnition is on goes to your RED wire power to radio .The other stays on all the time which is you YELLOW wire to your radio and the blue wire is used if you have power antenna on the radio. The rest are just speaker wires on the harness. Good luck

Depending on the year of the vechile you can clear error codes several different ways. If the vechile is pre 95 you can disconnect power to the battery for ten minutes and that will clear the stored codes. If the vechile is post 95 you have to have a scanner hooked up to clear the codes. 96 and up there is a hand scanner that can be purchased at your local parts store so you can scan and remove the code.

The " check engine light" is by far one of the most misunderstood technological advances It is a warning light that is illuminated when there is a problem affecting the EMISSIONS of the vehicle.. Don't let it bother you as it is a good thing once you understand it. One point that was brought up a recent meeting of technicians was that the amount of hydrocarbons is greater when the gas cap is left off than when the engine is running. Hydrocarbons are part of pollution emitted as gasoline evaporates. Going a step farther, one facet of the emission system is the "Evaporative" portion. This is when the fumes from the gasoline are leaking from the system into the outside air. This is one part of the emission system that can trigger a check engine light. I would say a small percentage of the vehicles that have a check engine light are the result of a loose or inadequate gas cap. But understand that many scenarios are possible with the "check engine light" The vehicle's powertrain computer (note that some vehicles have multiple computers aside from the powertain computer) will run a series of self-tests. They will only run under certain criteria. And they are different from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some self-tests or �monitors� are not run until preceding ones have run successfully. So if there is a problem in one particular area that is preventing another self test from running, you can have a situation where one problem is fixed, but another still exists. If you fix a problem and drive the car through a drive cycle that sets the monitor (or self test) the light will go off as it passes that criteria that triggered it in the first place. There are many different sources for the light to come on. Anything that caused combustion to fail, commonly called a misfire will set the light. Various sensors such as oxygen sensors that evaluate the exhaust before and after the gases are burned in the converter. Transmission codes may set the check engine light to appear. If the car is running okay, get it fixed in a reasonable amount of time such as within the month. It will probably save you fuel if you do. However if the Check engine light is flashing, you should be driving it as damage is being done to the converter. Some emission components are covered beyond the standard warranty. The converter for example is covered up to 80,000 miles by the manufacturer. After 1996, the auto industry went to a idea called OBD II (on board diagnostics). This was to get all the manufacturers onto a similar plane for troubleshooting and powertrain control. While they still differ, many corrections and adaptations were made for technicians to better fix the check engine light problems. Prior to this there were so many different and poor troubleshooting data from a check engine light problem that resolving the problem was much more difficult. Many early warning light of this nature were set to illuminate based on mileage. An Oxygen sensor was one of the things that were meant to be replaced when that mileage was hit. This is much like many current "Change oil lights� that are set based on a pre-set mileage. To start testing for the check engine light, you�ll need to find the codes from the computer, match the code to the troubleshooting procedure, follow the procedure to find the source. Repair the source, light will go out if that was the only problem. There are "monitors" or self tests the computer runs the car through a drive cycle, if a problem occurs, it may not run all of the self tests until that problem is taken care. There are self-tests for the oxygen sensor circuit, egr system, evaporative system to name a few. Therefore, another problem may exist. It is emission related.OR hook up a scanner that is capable of clearing codes, and hope that it won�t come back on. But don�t bet on it. Lastly, disconnecting the battery in some cars will clear the memory of the computer and may temporarily turn the light off. Beware that this may also cause other problems such as the car not rembering it�s idle and will have to relearn it, the radio may be rendered inoperative or in the case of the new Toyotas, the air bag can blow.

He is trying to over explain.. Just undo your negative battery terminal for 30 minutes then re connect it. this should clear any fault codes. the exception is if there is still a problem then it wont work.

I'm supposing all other rads on the system are hot? If so, it sounds like you either have a flow problem, check wheel-head and locksheild valves are open. If they are you'll need to determine if water is actually passing the valve when open by un-doing the joint. I assume when you bled the valve air followed by water under pressure followed? If this occurred it's likely there is suitable flow and that the radiator itself is blocked with sediment.
The most cost effective measure is to remove rad and flush out individually with hose pipe, remembering to lock of valves before hand.
Observe how much silt/rust deposits comes out. Flush till clean and refit, open valves and re-bleed, see how you go. Are you using inhibitor in the system do you have an engineer service it every 12 months.
