Obviously, I am no animal diognostician however, my West Highland White terrier has recently been ripping up grass and munching on it - my Father and I though this was really abnormal considering she has never done this kind of thing in the past.

However, once researching into this little incident, we found out this aas quite common in dogs; they apparently do it to "throw up", if they have a stomach-ache, feel sick, and occasionally do it just for a snack, and therefore we never really thought anything more about it.

Anywho, my dog started to gag and cough and choke - it went on all evening until we agreed to consult a vet, however just in the car as my Father was driving my dog and I to the vet; I managed somehow to green stand out of her nose along with some blood.

To sum up, what we thought would be an intense, and extortinate surgery to stop my dog from choking herself turned out to be a blade of grass stuck down her throat which came out her nose.

However, if you find no grass or other things your dog may have choked on that you could manouvere out his/her nose or mouth or throat - it sounds much too serious and dangerous; and it would be preferable to consult a vet as soon as possible.

Just a thought also - try getting your dog to drink from his waterbowl (this could help the gagging, and soothe his throat as well as washing anything unwanted away into his stomach: therefore, make his waterbowl more available to drink from - eg. Shove it under his/her nose).

Think about these; did your dog eat anything that upset its stomach there, did he receive a traumatic experience in there, if your dog is from a shelter, find out if there was any post traumatic experience.

Poodles can eat any type of manufactured dog food, wet or dry, although smaller species may require smaller sized portions. You can consult your Vet for recommendations, or to discuss the best foods for a particular dog.

I feel dry food is best for dogs teeth because it cleans the tarter. As dogs get older the tarter builds up and their gums become sore and your dog won't eat the hard types of foods which they need. Brush their teeth every day. To get your dog to gain a taste for dry food mix water or other liquid and let soak until kibbles become softer. I like the Eukenuba brand. Poodles can eat fresh baked, boiled chicken, plain yogurt, apples, rice, steamed carrots,steamed green beans. Don't feed your dog chocolate, acid foods, or junk foods like pizza, or fast foods are not good for dogs because it causes food allergies, skin problems, stomach upsets.

The pup is looking for attention and the best way I have found isto turn away from them. When they are going to jump just turn your back to them. After a few times of doing this and then rewarding them with a rub they should start to come and sit first.

Take a look at it, is it clean? wash it off, remove any dried feces, some longer haired dogs get this and need washed there from time to time. you dog could have had diarehha you may not have know it and now some of it has dried up there, I know it sounds awful but you need to take a look.

Most dogs react better with a treat because to them this is praise. They understand 'Good Dog' and "Bad Dog" but they still get confused. By giving them a treat for praise, they realize they are doing something good and right. If they don't get a treat, they realize they didn't do it right or did something wrong.

I have many cats rescued over the past 30 years that actually do. I just lost one (he was 17) that just loved to beg. He not only begged, the day before he died, he was still grabbing food off my fork with his paw. (and it was asparagus, at that!)
