Why does your dog keep gagging and trying to cough something up?
Obviously, I am no animal diognostician however, my West Highland White terrier has recently been ripping up grass and munching on it - my Father and I though this was really abnormal considering she has never done this kind of thing in the past.
However, once researching into this little incident, we found out this aas quite common in dogs; they apparently do it to "throw up", if they have a stomach-ache, feel sick, and occasionally do it just for a snack, and therefore we never really thought anything more about it.
Anywho, my dog started to gag and cough and choke - it went on all evening until we agreed to consult a vet, however just in the car as my Father was driving my dog and I to the vet; I managed somehow to green stand out of her nose along with some blood.
To sum up, what we thought would be an intense, and extortinate surgery to stop my dog from choking herself turned out to be a blade of grass stuck down her throat which came out her nose.
However, if you find no grass or other things your dog may have choked on that you could manouvere out his/her nose or mouth or throat - it sounds much too serious and dangerous; and it would be preferable to consult a vet as soon as possible.
Just a thought also - try getting your dog to drink from his waterbowl (this could help the gagging, and soothe his throat as well as washing anything unwanted away into his stomach: therefore, make his waterbowl more available to drink from - eg. Shove it under his/her nose).
Female dogs do not have periods per se, but they do go through a regular heat cycle if they have not been spayed, or desexed.
The average heat cycle for a dog is anywhere from 1 week to 4 weeks in length. The time between heat periods is usually around seven months but can vary from every 4 months to once a year.
During the first part of the heat cycle, there is swelling and bleeding from the vulva, and male dogs will be hanging around nearby. This is what is generally thought to be a "period". The female will lick herself a lot more than usual, but blood spots may still be left around the house and territory.
Having your dog spayed will prevent this problem, and research has indicated there are health benefits associated with desexing. If you do not intend to breed your dog, having her spayed would be a sensible option.
Why is your dog Scared of the room?
Think about these; did your dog eat anything that upset its stomach there, did he receive a traumatic experience in there, if your dog is from a shelter, find out if there was any post traumatic experience.
What types of food does a poodle eat?
Poodles can eat any type of manufactured dog food, wet or dry, although smaller species may require smaller sized portions. You can consult your Vet for recommendations, or to discuss the best foods for a particular dog.

I feel dry food is best for dogs teeth because it cleans the tarter. As dogs get older the tarter builds up and their gums become sore and your dog won't eat the hard types of foods which they need. Brush their teeth every day. To get your dog to gain a taste for dry food mix water or other liquid and let soak until kibbles become softer. I like the Eukenuba brand. Poodles can eat fresh baked, boiled chicken, plain yogurt, apples, rice, steamed carrots, steamed green beans. Don't feed your dog chocolate, acid foods, or junk foods like pizza, or fast foods are not good for dogs because it causes food allergies, skin problems, stomach upsets.
When great dogs fight small dog gets what?
I think it's a proverb. Meaning when big and powerful people are fighting each other, the small and quiet person gets the thing, by taking it while they're fighting.
Why does the dog growl at family members?
There are a number of reasons why a dog may growl at a child. She may have had a harsh upbringing, or she might have become very stressed living at a shelter for even a short period. She may be fearful, unsure of herself and distrusting of strangers, even small ones. There is also the possibility that sometime in the past she was harmed or frightened by children, even if they meant her no harm. By the way, although we don't want our pets to growl at kids, in a way it's actually a good thing; it shows that the dog has restraint and is able to give humans a warning when she doesn't want to be approached. A dangerous dog would simply attack a child who irritated her.
To deal with this issue, try building Sweetie's self-esteem. Praise her when she follows commands and when she quietly accepts strangers. Buy her a toy that dispenses small treats when she pushes it around and explores it; because she will succeed at "scavenging" food, she will build her confidence. A confident dog is much less apt to be afraid of people.
A trainer who uses positive methods may be able to help your animal reduce her fear of children. Also, a product called a Thunder Shirt is available commercially to help dogs feel more secure in potentially frightening situations.
How do you teach a puppy to not jump on people?
The pup is looking for attention and the best way I have found isto turn away from them. When they are going to jump just turn your back to them. After a few times of doing this and then rewarding them with a rub they should start to come and sit first.

it usually mean that your dog has kennel cough. In some dogs it can lead to pneumonia or more serious signs. Cough suppressants can be used to control the cough and antibiotics may be necessary for stubborn infections or to try to stop the spread of the bacteria in multiple dog households.

How do you get your dog to stop biting the furniture?
First of all tell your dog "NO" in a firm deep voice when you catch him or her chewing on the furniture. Give your dog something else to chew on, such as nylabones or other hard toys that are safe for dogs. Also keep him busy, make sure to take your dog on a daily walk of at least 20 minutes, 45 minutes is best. Make it a nice fast paced walk. Walk your dog on a leash & choke chain only, never let your dog off the leash while taking walks. Go to a local Obedience school. Ask your Veterinarian or the local Animal Shelter where the obedience classes are. Find your local all breed dog club and join. They will offer lots of things to do with your dog. It will be fun for both you and your dog. Also you can get products like the furnature spray at petsmart that gets you're dog to stop chewing the furnature by making the item taste bad and will effectively stop the chewing
Do dogs respond better to commands with treats or without?
Most dogs react better with a treat because to them this is praise. They understand 'Good Dog' and "Bad Dog" but they still get confused. By giving them a treat for praise, they realize they are doing something good and right. If they don't get a treat, they realize they didn't do it right or did something wrong.
I have many cats rescued over the past 30 years that actually do. I just lost one (he was 17) that just loved to beg. He not only begged, the day before he died, he was still grabbing food off my fork with his paw. (and it was asparagus, at that!) If I came into the living room with a plate, he get on the back of the couch and try to grab off my fork as I ate (and at times I would, of course, let him). I have another older one that will literally balance up on her hind legs and wait for me to show her what she's getting when the can gets opened. She also loves to beg for pieces of roast beef, turkey or chicken.
How do you train the dog to behave the house?
House training may be done many ways. A common way is to put newspapers or pads on the ground and encourage the dog to relieve themselves on those and slowly moving whatever you use closer and closer to outside (or wherever you want the dog to go to the bathroom).
It is also good practice to take the dog out at least 3 times a day, usually about an hour after the dog has eaten, and praising him or her when they go to the bathroom outside.
How can you get the female dog to let the male dog mount her?
The male or female dog has some kind of repel between them. Either they are not the right shape,(as in the female dog is too young to breed) or one of them has an infection and unable to breed. Or, i suppose it could be the male being picky, but that's not really usual.
See the related link. There were technically 3 Benjis. It depends on which movie you are talking about. All of them were mix breeds. The first was believed to be a mix between a miniature poodle, a mini schnauzer and a cocker spaniel. Hope this helps.
