Depending on the dog, your dog may hump a lot. If the person/dog it is humping is getting upset by this stop the dog immediatly. If they keep trying, keep pushing them off. Eventually they will learn. It is important that all animals get along.

Depends on the dog. I have a 3yo Lab who was trained since 3 months old and he won't go farther than 50'. However, every dog I grew up with from the SPCA ran away every chance they got, mostly it was close, within 1 mile. Some strong willed dog's, like my sisters 3yo Lab will keep going. He'll keep going until someone opens a car door and if they see a deer they are gone. He jumped in the mail truck a couple months ago, last time she had a party the police caught him at 2 am in a bar.

How do you train a vicious dog? Well you need the dog to like you first. You have to show him that you will do no harm. Although he is vicious, you can still have some social time together by getting some tasty dog treats and just give it to him. You can also get a ball and play with him by throwing it. You can just sit and watch TV together, take him to the park, and when your going along with him give the training a try or, sign up for a training school. I hope this works!

No wonder the dog is confused! You let the dog go out to do it's business and then YOU clean up the mess. It's no different than telling your child to use the washroom, but not the toilet! If you are tired of cleaning up poop in the backyard then make a doggie run on part of the property out of good stiff chicken wire. I've done that and my dogs have a place to go without dirtying up the backyard (that's their play area) and cleaning up a doggy run is far quicker and it should be cleaned up every second day.

This is a gross, yet good question. This could be very dangerous to the dog, so it needs to be stopped. I, myself had a dog eat another dogs waste, and he was sick for days. Well pretty much pull him away from it if on a leash and scold him lightly. No need to yell at them, just in a stern voice, say "no!". If he/she is not on a leash, well then, go over to him, pull him away nicely, scold him no, without yelling at him/her, and she/he should get the message. If dog keeps on doing this, take him over to it, show him it, say "No. No eating. No." while pointing at it and your dog. Also, take him over to it, let him/her smell it, let him take a nip at it, not letting him take any, and pull him/er back and scold.

A dog will stop teething 2 to 4 weeks after they start teething. Giving them plenty of chew toys will help save your furniture from being destroyed. Puppies may chew on your hand because their teeth hurt. Say no in a stern voice, but don't get mad at them, instead give them a chew toy to chew on. As soon as they start chewing on the chew toy give them praise. Also ice cubes can help during the teething process. Some dogs find them fun to pay with, and they can help to numb the gums to help with the pain.

Dogs don't normally soil the place where they sleep so unless your Beagle is being crated too long between outside trips, it may have a medical problem and should be checked out by your vet.

Dogs have the same hierarchy as wolves for they were actually just bred from wolves. People like to think of their dogs as children, which is because Humans, too, have a hierarchy, though more subtle than the one of dogs. Children are the members of the Human "pack" that the rest of the group take care of, so in an adult Human's mind the dog is one of the children to be cared for. Children play with their dogs like other children, so from the Human's point of view a dog is a child.

Dogs should think of their owners as the Alphas or leaders of their pack. In an all dog pack the Alpha will be the only one allowed to breed and will lead hunts and establish a territory for the rest of the pack to maintain. In the dog's mind all of this is going on inside the house. The adult humans are the Alpha male and female and are the only ones who have "puppies". The "puppies" are pretty much the lowest ranking and the Alphas, the parents, are in charge. The main difference in how a dog thinks of itself and a human thinks of a dog is that the dog thinks of itself not as a puppy or of the Humans as it's parents and Alphas but that it is a Subordinate of the pack.

Lets say there are four Humans and two dogs in a family/pack. The Alpha male and female and their two puppies. The dogs' jobs are to do what the Alphas say, defend the territory, and protect and sometimes play with the puppies.

Now another example: my house.

It seems as though my mother would be the Alpha, but I've found that the dogs seem to think of my mother and I both as Alphas. My mother, of course, is in charge of my sister and I, who, to the dogs, are the "puppies". But I am the dogs' trainer. I've worked them on basic commands (sit, lie down, off the couch, etc) since the beginning. So I am unclear on how they perceive my rank. My sister, though, is definitely the "puppy"; the dogs are reluctant to move off the couch for her to sit, and often won't until she repeats the "down" command twice, while they jump down immediately for both me and my mother, though sometimes a bit more slowly for me but always at the first request. So the dogs definitely know their place as subordinates, though the female seems to drift between Subordinate and Omega. Now here is where the cats come in. Cats have a completely different hierarchy than dogs, and the only similarity is that there is a dominant, Alpha cat, though not a pair. The male dog actually plays with one of the male cats as he does the other dog, though not as often, and the same dog also grooms the cats while they lick his head, so they definitely have some pack order going on. My best guess is that the female cat, who is very shy and runs away at any sudden sound, is, to the dogs at least, the Omega. She is often picked on by the same male cat that plays with the dog, and the dogs, especially the male, will bark at them as to tell them to quit arguing. Omega dogs are often picked on by higher ranking pack members and there is sometimes a pack member who will step in, so that is the Omega cat. The older male cat's rank is unclear to me, the only interaction he has with the dogs is the occasional grooming session, but I'm sure that at least the male dog thinks of the younger male as his equal.

If by casting you mean running from left to right, and running to either side over some side, I would use that natural casting for search work Casualty detection or putting up game. that casting is something we sometimes have to work hard to get a dog to do, so if it does it naturally then use it to work the dog. To stop it, the second, yes the very second you let him off, turn you back on him and walk away, in the opposite direction, as soon as he catches you up turn around and walk away again, and keep that up, so you become the leader and he becomes the follower, DO NOT SHOUT his name or call him otherwise you become a lighthouse and he will know where you are all the time, keep quiet, make him the apprehensive one not you as I guess you are at the moment, make him feel lost, walk away every time he starts to feel comfortable in the knowledge that you are there. Use fear, in other words make him think you are discarding him from your pack, no (well there are a few, Cats being one) like to be thrown out of the pack, they are uncomfortable on their own vulnerable and libel to get attacked. They all feel more comfortable in a pack, and the stronger the pack leader the happier they feel.

Owners of house-broken indoor dogs who take their dogs for a walk before leaving for work will almost always come home to a clean house. The average work day, including travel time, will mean that the dog has been left alone in the home for about 10 hours.

Introduce it to the water slowly. They will move around until they cant stand anymore, then they start to paddle and notice "Hey, this keeps me above water" after a few hours in the water dogs are experts. You can even teach your dog to dive to the bottom of the pool and retrieve a stick. Be careful your dog doesn't run out of stamina and drown.

You need to let him outside more often. Or, the crate space is too big, you need to divide it to make it just enough size for him to turn around and lie down. Dogs will not go where they sleep, but at some point, if not let out he will have to.

The older the dog is the more difficult it will be but it is not impossible. Take your dog outside and walk him. Be consistent with this and commit to the time required. They will eventually have to go and when they do lavish praise on them such as "good dog". If you do this consistently they will prefer going outside and the paper habit will be broken. Remember that all dog training is essentially behavior modification and you must train them into the preferred habit. I hope this helps.

It sure helps! Crate help with housetraining because puppies will instinctively not "go" in their crates, because it is their "den". Just make sure that is is big enough that he/she can stand up and turn around, but not so big that they can section it off into a "potty area" and a "sleeping area". Also, puppies in crates cannot chew things that they shouldn't or swallow dangerous or valuable items. Make sure you do not make them live in their crate all the time. As a general rule, puppies can stay in their crates for as many hours as months they are old, plus one. A 10 week old puppy is 2 1/2 months old, so s/he can stay in the crate for 3 1/2 hours without needing a potty break. When they reach 6 months old, they can hold it up to 8 hours. This is how long they CAN stay in their crates, if needed, that does not mean that they SHOULD. For house training, put puppy in the crate for as long as it has been determined they can stay in the crate. Take them out, let them potty, and play for 1/2 to 1 hour. put them in the crate for that amount of time twice a day at least, plus whenever you cannot supervise them. Then if they need to stay in the crate for longer periods of time, such as in your absence or while traveling, they will be used to it. It is not cruelty. Make sure that the crate is a pleasant place to be by always providing a toy in the crate that is not given at any other time.

Dogs are pack animals. In the wild they ran in packs and instinctively they protect their pack. Domestic dogs think of their owners as part of their pack.

The dogs get very attached to one person. That person is usually the person who spends the most time with them, which should be their owners. If the dog feels like something or someone is a threat to their owners, they will growl and a back off warning and if you don't they will snap or bite at them.
