Ethics and Morality

Ethics is about what we should – and should not - do. It includes identification of basic principles, e.g. the prerogatives of property owners; and the application of those principles to actual situations, e.g. copyright protection of intellectual property over the Internet.

What is postconventional morality?

Post conventional morality is when someone does something to help another individual despite the dangers attached or despite it's inconvenience. An example would be Oscar Shindler, who paid money out of his own pocket in order to hire and save the lives of 1100 Jewish people; he did this and maintained an ammunition factory that did not produce a single usable shell for the Nazis, which personally cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars. This extreme example shows a human who chose to save people, well beyond when it was convenient to him.

"Save one life, Save the world entire" - Oscar Shindler

What are the ethics and morality of Islam?

Answer Aif you want to learn about ethics and morality of Islam I don't recommend that you read cropped verses unless you already know the context.

Islam is a complete system of ethics...starting with as simple as a smile that counts as charity all the way up to defending the oppressed.

Backbiting is a terrible vice in Qur'an. Murdering the peaceful is strictly prohibited in Qur'an. Women are equal to men in humanity but they have different responsibilities.

The ethical system of Islam covers everything: war, family, marriage, treating others, investments,...

Answer BYou can't sum up a whole religion in a word. However, the followings are on the top of my head:
  • Muslims respect every living thing (including plants). you get rewarded for treating animals and other creatures in a humane way and you get punished in the afterlife for not.
  • In Islam, all races are equal and no sex is better than the other. They are equal with different responsibilities but neither are oppressed or abused.
  • Muslims are ordered to respect other people's faith and believes regardless of what they are (even atheism)
  • killing is the worst crime (He who kills one person is like killing all people) that's my translation for the prophet's words in Arabic. It doesn't matter if the victim is a Muslim or not, its the worst crime EVER. Which is why those who claim to be Muslims and kill are NOT and they will be punished in the afterlife for their crimes. Even in self-defense, killing should be the last resort.
  • Respect your parents and love them even if they treat you wrong. Also respect whoever is older than you, and treat who ever is younger with mercy and kindness.
  • Help others when ever you can. They don't have to be Muslims to get the reward. Even being nice is enough to be rewarded.
  • giving to the poor is a must. 2.5% of your assets that you owned for a whole year is given to the poor annually. Its doesn't have to be a charity, a poor relative or friend is good enough. What ever you give away throughout the year is a bonus desirable reward.
  • sponsoring orphans has the greatest reward ever! the prophet said that the person who does this will be with him in heaven (and he is in the highest levels of heaven).
  • Honesty, we believe that Allah is seeing everything we do. So lying, stealing, etc.. is not only a sin, its shameful to do it when Allah is watching! just embarrassing! We also believe that there is two angles that write down every good and bad thing we do, this book would be read on judgment day in front of all humanity! its a big embarrassment to read the sins so we try not to do them!

That's all I could think of right now, and excuse my English for any grammar or spelling mistakes, its not my first language.

Ethical problem that Little Albert has?

There were many ethical problems with the Little Albert study.

Firstly, it was clearly a case of harm to the participant. Albert was consistently made to experience a loud clanging, and ultimately it drove him to feel extreme fear.

Secondly, there was not informed consent as Albert was still very young.

Thirdly, the right to withdraw was under question as, even as Albert became distressed with the experiment, it continued.

Why do people say someones acting black when they do or say something ghetto?

They are being racist. Because racism is still prominent in the United States, African-Americans are often forced into lower paying jobs, and organizations like the Federal Housing Administration move them into so called red-lined neighborhoods. These are the ghetto area. So unfortunately, the demographic ratio is slanted in these areas. This morphed into a stereotype that African-Americans equal ghetto neighborhoods.

How do The Divine Command Theory and Cultural relativism differ?

Divine Command Theory (DCT) is a theory that stands to say that something is morally acceptable simply "because God says so."

(ie: To donate to charity is "good." What makes giving to charity good? "Because God commands it.")

Cultural Relativism/Ethnocentrism (CR) is a theory that states that there is no universal code for morality, rather that one's cultural upbringing determines morality.

(ie: Just because Americans do not traditionally practice cannibalism, that does not make it morally wrong. Other cultures are raised to think this is a natural and normal practice.)

Hope this answers your question!
