when you are overheated your bodys liquids try to cool you down resulting in sweat. When you sweat your body becomes dehydrated if you don't consume anything liquid to replace what was used. And if you don't it resultes in dehydration.

any treated areas are dressed for healing.the patient is given pain medication, antibiotics, and anti-swelling medication.Antiviral drugs are also continued. Patients should avoid the sun during the healing process.

Buffer systems help to maintain constant plasma pH. There are three buffer systems - Protein buffer system, phoshate buffer system and bicarbonate buffer system. Among this, bicarbonate buffer system is the most predominant. Buffers function as "shock absorbers" that accept excess H+ ions or OH- ions and keep blood pH constant. For example, if there is an increase in acidity of blood due to excess HCl (a strong acid), then NaHCO3 (Sodium bicarbonate) will buffer it to a weak acid (H2CO3).

When a patient is experiencing a seizure... * Help the patient to the floor, and move away any furniture or anything they could injure themselves against. * DO NOT introduce anything into the patient's mouth to prevent biting of the tonge, you will do more damage and run the risk of breaking teeth which could impair the patient's breathing. * Turn patient onto their side once the seizure subsides, to prevent aspiration of saliva or vomit. * The patient may turn blue during extended seizures because they cannot breath. As the seizure subsides, make sure the patient starts to breath again. * Activate Emergency Medical Services as soon as possible. * Avoid putting a pillow under the patient's head, as this may tilt the head forward and further impair the patient's airway. * When the patient starts to awaken, he or she may be confused or combative.

1st Line treatment is cool... not cold... water. Once you have done that you will need to apply an aloe or silver sulfadiazine cream for the next 48 - 72 hours.

• Call 911 or your local emergency number.
• Have the person lie down on his or her back with feet about a foot higher than the head. If raising the legs will cause pain or further injury, keep him or her flat. Keep the person still.
• Check for signs of circulation (breathing, coughing or movement). If absent, begin CPR.
• Keep the person warm and comfortable. Loosen belt and tight clothing and cover the person with a blanket. Even if the person complains of thirst, give nothing by mouth.
• Turn the person on his or her side to prevent choking if the person vomits or bleeds from the mouth.
• Seek treatment for injuries, such as bleeding or broken bones.

Second degree are also called partial-thickness burns. They are the second least severe type.

At Home (not at hospital), the disinfectant which is readily available and very near to you. Soap can be used for washing. Disinfectant solution also can be used. For proper disinfection use Dettol or Savlon type liquids. One can use Ethyl Spirit. If you don;t have that use hard drink like Rum, Brandy and Whiskey.

One may think that since water "follows" salt, when you add more salt to your body you would also retain that water. However, you body will try to excrete the salt. The most concentrated your body can make urine is 1200 mOsm/L. If you drink salt water with a higher concentration than this then you body needs to use some of its current water to dilute your urine to this concentration to remove the salt you drank. As a result, you have a net decrease in water within the body, dehydrating you.

However, even at concentrations of less than 1200 mOsm/L, while you will retain fluid, your new ion blood concentration will increase. This pulls water out of the cells via osmosis essentially dehydrating the cells, despite having more fluid in your body.

for sanitation! hands have germs on them, if you cut someone open those germs can get into their blood stream and (especially since a patient having surgery is in a weakened health state anyway!!!!) this can be detremental to the patients health

The standard First Aid Certificate, awarded by St. John Ambulance, St. Andrew's Ambulance Association, and the British Red Cross , is proof of all round competence. It is valid for just 3 years; to keep your knowledge and skills up to date, you must be examined and regularly reexamined after further training.

Regular first aiders may volunteer for additional training to broaden the scope of their skills.

This would depend on the reason for the swollen eye. Did you have something in your eye when you went to sleep? Did you use a new cosmetic or contact lens cleaner that you may have had an allergic reaction to? Do you wear contact lenses, and possibly forgot to take one of them out? (I actually did that once). If so, then you need to have an optometrist or opthalmalogist look at it to make sure there is no damage, such as an abrasion or scratches on the eye. Have you recently used eye drops that you coud have been allergic to, or that were expired or contaminated?

Could you possibly have allergies or sinus problems that caused it? If you have sinus problems, it can cause swelling in one eye and not the other. Either way, I would advise having it checked out by your doctor. But until you can get in to see him/her, you can help reduce the swelling by cold compresses applied to the eye for about 15 minutes every couple of hours.

And it would be best to not wear eye make up until you know what the problem is. Also, if your eye makeup is more than a few months old, it needs to be thrown out and replaced. Old eye makeup is one of the major causes of eye infections.

wrap it up with an ace bandage and don't put much weight on it for a few days. WRONG!!! Excersise the ankle, take pain killers, put ice on for 15 mins every 2 hours, keep using it like a normal ankle.

you need to lower your body temperature, some ways are to find shade, remove any excess clothing, dab a cold sponge around the armpits, neck, head, and groin area, cover the casualty with wet sheets with a fan over them, then put the casualty in the "recovery" position" monitor thee body temperature, monitor breathing, and possibly transport the casualty to medical aid in a cool vehicle...i hope this helps

Platelets are irregularly-shaped, colorless forms that are available in blood. Their sticky surface lets them to form clots to stop bleeding.

When bleeding from a wound starts, the platelets accumulate at the wound and try to block the blood stream. The calcium, vitamin K, & a protein called fibrinogen help the platelets to form coagulation.

A clot starts to form when the blood is in contact with air. The platelets sense the existence of air and start to separate. They respond with the fibrinogen to start forming fibrin, which looks like fiber. The fibrin then starts to structure a web-like work that traps the platelets inside it. This cross section of platelets solidifies as it dries, shaping a coagulation, or "scab."

While there are first aid professionals, that are called in to help, ideally, everyone shoud know a little first aid. Knowing just a little can save a life, reduce suffering, etc. At a scene, the most experienced person should be directing the effort. However I'll often yield the floor and let someone else run it before I'll get into an argument with another rescuer at a scene. In that instance, I'll only intrude if the procedures being undertaken endanger the patient.

Neither of them are wholly responsible however when damage occurs platelet activation takes place which forms a 'knitted area'. This area traps the red blood cells causing a blockage. If infection occurs, white blood cells will then fight through the form of endocytosis by engulfing the diseased cells.

How bad is it? Is it a first degree surface burn? A 2nd degree burn which causes some skin to burn off? Or a 3rd degree in which can run as deep as the bone?

After you figure it out, rinse the skin with cold water. This will bring down swelling and such. Then apply an antibiotic such as Neosporin to the wound. Then wrap with gauze. The point is to keep the burn moist, but keep it covered to prevent infection.

IT REALLY DOES WORK!!!

It'll take a while to heal, but if you change the dressing every day and keep applying the Neosporin (or antibiotic) it'll slowly heal up. You will expirience pain and even numbness so don't worry.

If you start to feel severe pain and swelling, accompained by an infection, you should see the doctor. Often, a bad burn can be treated with special meds and creme.
