older engines had higher compression than today I run my 65 Falcon on the medium grade with 84-86 octane most of the time. It also somewhat depends on where you live and how much Ethanol is mixed in the gas in your area look on the pump and try to avoid or use the least Ethanol possible. Ethanol in can cause some problems with carburetors over time and hurts gas mileage. I believe it is a good idea to add a fuel additive like "Seafoam" every 2nd or 3rd tank if you live in a area that gets cold and hot weather to deal with fuel tank condensation and carburetors.

the dipstick is right in front of the firewall, next to the exhaust. fords had dipstick up until the end of the el falcons as far as i can remember. then they went to filler plugs on the drivers side of the transmission. they have a 16mm size head.

According to my Chilton's Auto Repair Manual :

For a 1970 Ford 390 cubic inch / 2 bbl carburetor ( the 5th " character " of the VIN is a " Y " )

( 270 horsepower at 4400 RPM and 390 ft lbs torque at 2600 RPM )

on a 1963 Falcon..first remove the key insert by turning key allthe way to the left,. Then place a paper clip(straightend) into the hole in insert.Press in to release the spring while turning key farther to the left and remove insert..now the ignition swithch can be removed by pressing in from rear of dash and turn switch counter clockwise while holding switch retainer in from front..

Try running it on 87 octane. If you detect pinging move up to 89 octane. If it still pings you will have to go to 91 octane.

Not Much If you have a second Year 1938 .But you have a Mauser action on it.That means the barrel is not Winchester. How did you decide that it is a 1938. the only way forsure to know is the Ser.No. on the gun .If it is a Mauser action. It would not have the correct Ser.No.

i have a model 70 serial # 2760 its a 1937- the bolt # should match the barrel# pull the bolt back and look carefully on the bottom and you can see the bolt #

IT could happen for many reasons. If it also actuates horn, then it is very likely that you have a faulty door lock actuator. This is a pretty common issue on BA -BF falcons.

You can easily diagnose this problem by listening for a ratcheting noise coming from a door lock/latch assembly inside your doors at the moment you depress LOCK or UNLOCK. A door that make such a sound needs a new lock assembly.

If there is no any ratcheting , then it could be an electronic control issue caused by BEM( Body Electronics module)

You don't, because an XF Falcon doesn't have rack and pinion steering. It has a steering box.

Just torque the rocker pedestal bolts to 30-35 ft/lbs. Wind the motor over on the starter motor with the plugs out + the ignition coil lead earthed for about 30 seconds to get the oil pumped up to the lifters first. Then proceed as normal - don't worry if the motor "rattles" for a minute or so when you fire it up the first time, it's all good.

This depends entirely upon your location, the year of the car, the Engine, the transmission, the Rear end, and tire size. Theoretically, you could make a Falcon go 200 mph by putting a 427 V8 in it with a 7 speed Porsche transmission and large enough tires.

However: early to mid sixties falcons tended to have two speeds, capping at 55 MPH. Later, they had 3 speeds allowing for 70 mph. Then there's Australian models that can do anything a modern car can do since they're modern.

Yes they will physically fit, as long as the EL Falcon they are going on is not too low. EL's can take some pretty fat wheel & tyres.

However,

XF falcons (i think) came out 14" wheels, where as EL's came out with 15" standard or 16" as optional. This will have an affect on the speedo reading, It would for example, if your on one of the HWY's it would be saying you were doing 100kph, but you would be really doing about 88kphs and have everyone be passing you, PLUS the engine would be reving higher then usual to maintain the speed approx 3100 with a EL and 4 speed auto.

it was a 1964 4 door Falcon color was Dynasty Green - Ford color code M1625

open your bonnet and look down, inside the engine bay and behind the light their should be a round plastic cap, attached to the light sitting directly behind ittwist this to the left and remove. now you should be able to see founr exposed wires, two leading to your parking light and leading to your main head lights. To remove the bulb of the main headlight, undo the small clip which holds it in place n gently evpose the blown bulb, with the wires still attached. now remove the bulb by pulling it out and replacing it with a new one. now test the light and insure it works, if so work backwards to reclip the light and place the cap back on. if the light still does not illuminate, it maybe that you have blown a fuse, which could also stop the light from functioning.

Yes they are the same transmission its the BTR 97LE, used up until v8 BA's, 6cyl used the 93LE.

Go to your local library and look at the Chiltons automotive book for your year car. It can help you tremendously. I do know you need a tension bar and two people to do this. Be careful as the belt is under alot of pressure and can snap in your face.
